The fastest #parkrun time since the spring, despite starting far too quickly and fading badly, but still managed first in my age group. Afterwards I had lessons from a 2 1/2 year old on balancing. Cone flinging (set up) before. #RunningPunks #GreenRunners
Autumnal colours on trees with grass to the front Ageing man in pink t shirt looking down towards the camera a tree with autumn colours behind him. Small child attempting to show adult how to balance on a beam. Grass parkland behind.

The Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College when the Helios installation was there.
An ultra wide angle shot showing arched windows down the side, with baroque painting on the ceiling centring around the then King and Queen - William and Mary. Hanging from a metal structure in the Hall is Helios a large golden representation of the sun.

Who benefits from the abolition of stamp duty land tax?

The first answer: people buying very expensive homes. Average saving for someone buying a £10m+ home is £1.7m. Average saving for someone buying a £250k-£500k home is £5k.

9 November 1891 | Czech Jewish woman, Eliška Budlovská, was born in Benešov.

She was deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt ghetto on 26 January 1943. She was murdered in a gas chamber after the arrival selection.

I got one for each of the Big Half and Vitality London 10,000 - they remind me of trees planted in a local Tiny Forest a couple of years ago - they are now thriving.

What would it be like if cats and whales changed places? My partner sent me these pictures from a Russian children’s book and I can’t stop thinking about the little whale drinking from a saucer. 🐋

An easy paced 16k around Blackheath and Greenwich, I had intended to go further afield but the autumn colours were so beautiful. It was the first few km of my fundraiser for @medicalaidpal.bsky.social (see pinned post). #GreenRunners #RunningPunks
Late summer flowers in the foreground autumn coloured trees behind Almost neon orange tree against grey sky and grass flecked with leaves below. Aging runner in neon yellow balancing on log - it is amazing that it only took one photo and that no limbs were broken given his poor balance. A dull day in Greenwich Park from the top of the escarpment. The towers of Canary Wharf at the rear autumn colours in trees at the bottom of the slope

There had been a torrential downpour which had stopped a couple of minutes before but the water hadn’t dissipated so I got some amazing reflections.

Pearls - a Deptford mural generally known as Deptford Pearls
A large mural on the side of a building - mainly pink - at the top are two chimneys one with a tie around it, the other with a tie. On the shop extension at ground level are two chimneys on a blue background at 90° to what you’d expect.

Deptford Pearls
by Artmongers
When we first started thinking about this mural in 2001, we wanted simple, playful visuals but with many potential interpretations. We never intended to represent a binary heterosexual couple; it was about the roles we play, or even different aspects of the same personality.
This comes across in the stories associated with this terrace, which was built by a woman, Mary Slade, between 1775 and 1785. Mary ran a haberdashery business with her sister Elizabeth; they lived in the largest house, 110. The two sisters won contracts to supply the naval dockyard and became extremely wealthy together.
She is often confused with another remarkable woman, Mary Lacey, who ran away to sea dressed as a man and later trained as a shipwright. Ill-health forced her to give up her work and reveal her gender, threatenirig her pension. Legend has it she had help from a local aristocrat in obtaining it, after which she moved in and began an affair with his wife! The truth is, according to local historians, she married, settled in Watergate Street, and had at least six children. How you choose to interpret a story or a mural is really up to you.
All this makes us wonder if we were unconsciously influenced by their stories, as well as this building... maybe they are the original Deptford Pearls. Whatever the case, these womens' gender-bending stories let us see beyond the surface.

A moody coastal scene from Reynisfjara in southern Iceland on a rainy day. The tide has receded, exposing wide stretches of dark volcanic sand that glisten faintly under the misty light. In the middle distance, a solitary rock formation rises from the shoreline, its rugged surface softened by the haze. Gentle waves curl along the beach, their white foam tracing delicate lines against the black sand. In the background, distant cliffs and headlands fade into the fog, giving the entire landscape a quiet, almost otherworldly atmosphere.
