After the picture description there will be a story not for the faith hearted…

Our black & white photograph captures a quiet, almost lonely riverside scene. In the middle of the image, a woman walks briskly along a raised pathway lined with metal railings.

Her silhouette is dark against the softly lit background of overgrown bushes and trees. The water below the path reflects light, rippling gently. Our shot is finished with a thin white border frame. Now for tonight’s story…

I call it the….The Riverbank Watcher.

The woman’s footsteps echoed softly on the concrete path, each tap swallowed quickly by the evening air. The river beside her whispered in slow ripples, its dark surface in enveloping the fading light.

She walked faster, clutching her coat tighter, though she couldn’t explain why. From the opposite bank, something moved, low and fluid, like a shadow with intent.

It followed her rhythm, pausing when she paused, slinking forward when she did. At first, she thought it was her imagination, the mind’s trick at dusk.

But then came the sound: a wet snarl, faint but undeniable, and the faint click of claws on stone. Her pulse quickened. She dared a glance over her shoulder, nothing but empty walkway, trees whispering in the wind. Yet she could feel it. Watching. Pacing. Waiting.

The moon crept from behind a drifting cloud, spilling pale light over the river. That was when she saw it: a shape, enormous and hunched, its eyes glowing like twin embers. The creature’s breath steamed in the cool air, its outline twitching with restrained hunger.

She broke into a run. Her boots thudded along the path, heartbeat hammering in her ears. Behind her came the growl, low, guttural, alive with hunger.

She didn’t scream; there was no one to hear. Only the river, the reeds, and the thing that hunted her.

By the time the moon climbed high, the riverbank was quiet once more, save for the distant echo of footsteps that no longer belonged to her.

Sleep well friends…

Good morning #BlueSky ☕️ To celebrate Tuesday’s wonderful #TheCampfire I knocked up some of my Campfire stew. Tuck in my friends & have a great day ☺️ #FoodOnFriday #EastCoastKin #-Photography #PhotographyOfBlueSky #PhotographersOfBlueSky #FoodOfBlueSky #HomeMade #Ireland #CampfireStew #Tasty #Friday
The picture shows a steaming bowl of my homemade Campfire stew which made in my kitchen here in Ireland.

A black bowl sits upon a black kitchen counter top with our stew hot from the pot. It’s filled with generous chunks of beautiful pink bacon, cream coloured boiled potatoes, onions, luscious chopped red bell peppers, tomatoes, chopped carrots all in a rich light brown sauce infused by slow cooking over flame.

It’s tasty, rich and packed with flavour right down to the last spoonful. Our dish is centre frame, in sharp focus with the rest of the kitchen in soft focus to emphasise our main subject.

And finally, our picture is in colour with a white, thin border frame.

Enjoy and please go back a few days to Tuesday and check out the hashtag #TheCampfire for some wonderful stories that are beautiful written by incredible people.

The next novel contains some of the most emotional scenes I’ve ever written. There’s also a bit of violence in there and some shadows with teeth.

“This whole project has become a celebration, because who would have thought that underneath meters and meters of contaminated soil were these seeds waiting to come back to life? It’s a reminder to us all of what is possible.” 💙

The beauty of the mysterious, of that which is partly hidden, when secrets are revealed....

#photography #landscapephotography #landscape #travel #nature #naturephotography #bluesky #sunset #outdoors
It is the interplay of fog with Namibia's coastal dunes which makes for beautiful scenes. I loved the soft tones of this scene, the dunes struggling to emerge from dense fog and the coast line barely showing through. I have always been mesmerized by the soft, ethereal light that seems to emanate from glaciers and touches all that is nearby. This particular evening in Patagonia's Torres del Paine National Park, it all came together. The warm light of the sun intermittently broke through clouds, gracing the peak of a mountain right next to glacier Grey in some of the most beautiful, evocative light I have seen. The mysterious, the partially known, that left to our imagination, exerts a profound hold on us. In East Greenland, giant icebergs contrast against towering mountains emerging from the clouds, yet never revealing what lies behind. Gently swaying grasses, remnants of good rains that graced the desert, complement distant mountains shrouded in a combination of dust & mist, as they are touched by the last light of day. Somewhere in Namibia.

A perfectly imperfect pink Dahlia is facing the sun. ☀️

Sunlight is shining on a pink garden Dahlia that is just about to wilt, what gives her fragile beauty an extra special touch. I like things that are perfectly imperfect. Her petals are making twists and circles what’s casting nice shadows, giving the flower extra depth.
There are green leaves surrounding her what makes her beautiful color pop.

The Dahlia is the national flower of Mexico. It has a proud history reaching back to the days of the Aztec empire. Aztecs grew her originally as a food crop for their starchy root tubers. Later the dahlia was transported back to Europe by Spanish colonists in the 18th century.

There's a Dahlia for Everyone. Big, small, frilly, spiky, neon pink, deep burgundy, orange, etc… these flowers come in so many shapes and colors that even the pickiest plant person will find the one for themselves.

In a room between two bedrooms a magnificent bath tub is set into the wall. It has surrounded by beautiful solid hardwood panelling. A towel rack stands between it and a huge, ornate fireplace. A huge mirror above the fireplace shows the reflection of the large window on the opposite side of the room (it has views out over the Irish Sea... there is a 30m cliff outside so no danger of anybody looking in !)
