The Trump Administration can only use the economic desperation of everyday Washingtonians as an ICE recruiting tool if we allow it to.

Let's talk about it at my "Tax The Rich" town hall on Saturday 10/11 3:30 PM @ Seattle First Baptist Church.

This might sound silly but vouch it is 100 percent correct. Crowd had been nuts all night but also was just aching for something to cheer for. When Humpy won, they set off the bangs and everything like someone had hit a walk-off homer and it jolted the whole place. Sports are weird and great!

Man. Humpy really did that shit.

If Bruce Harrell's case for re-election is his management experience, what should we make of two separate instances in the last week of city decisions made under his watch being immediately reversed after huge community blowback?

I've been clowning on Brandi Kruse for years and this clip makes her look far worse than anything i've ever said about her

Brandi Kruse at today's "antifa violence roundtable" at the White House: "This is one of the reasons I recovered from it. By the way, it’s much better to not have TDS. I’m happier, healthier, more successful. I even think I got a little more attractive after I got rid of my Trump Derangement System"

Seattle folks, you should not trust any local politicians who treat Jonathan Choe as a serious journalist.
atrupar.com
Jonathan Choe to Trump: "Another group right now that is behind antifa and working with antifa very closely based on the research that we have right now that we're gonna give to you and your team are the Democratic Socialists of America."

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

Big business has the money to carry the Harrell campaign, but they don’t have the votes, so Harrell is leaning on his “deep roots in the community.” With the nimbys pissed, labor waffling, and a sizable portion of the electorate from elsewhere, Harrell’s path to re-election could not be narrower.

What the records show:
-Major elements of the LWB redesign, like the changes at Orcas Street, nearly went out for construction before being killed by the Mayor's Office
-Parks staff were continuing to negotiate over individual elements of the project as late as early June.

Bruce Harrell has failed again and again on policing in Seattle. We badly need new leadership.

Capt Tietjen has a long record of actions that diminish public confidence in SPD. We cannot afford that. I want to give the new chief the benefit of the doubt, but this decision reflects either bad judgment or a lack of due diligence, neither of which will be accepted when I’m Mayor.
SPD Chief Puts Cop Who Called 2020 Protesters "Cockroaches" In Charge of East Precinct
Mike Tietjen, who was promoted over a gay acting commander, was suspended, reassigned, and reprimanded after multiple complaints in 2020, including an incident in which officers taunted a trans woman.

I just think your ire should be directed at electeds and not blaming activists who have to work within the system and funding constraints the legislature gives us.

Initiative 1098 was one attempt at a "grand bargain" and had a lot of financial backing but it still failed 2-1.
salspach.bsky.social
We can't expect advocates for specific issues to bet everything (school closures, transit funding, housing, etc.) on getting tax reform passed when the legislature won't even take the small steps like a wealth tax. And Ferguson is a huge blocker too.
salspach.bsky.social
I don't disagree with you on the need for comprehensive reform but the barrier to that is you need a significant portion of the Dem caucus on board and they just aren't even close. They overwhelmingly voted to ban an income tax via initiative recently and won't even let cities do our own.

You don’t have to be in Seattle to donate to elect @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social !!
Her opponent has raised a ridiculous amount from outside the city between his campaign and PAC. Give today!

Contributions are limited to $650 per person, including Democracy Vouchers for the entire election.

It confuses me why you think this is an activist problem and not a legislature problem.

Every activist I know is aware of our completely broken tax system and very open to how to fix it but we can't even get the legislature to pass a wealth tax which should be table stakes for tax reform.

A PAC supporting Bruce Harrell has now raised more than $1 million from wealthy donors, and soon they will use it to attack me so that our city stays unaffordable. With less than a month until election day, I want to make a few things clear. #thisisyourcity

A huge failure by Bruce Harrell. If you want to actually tackle homelessness in Seattle, vote for Katie Wilson.
propublica.org
NEW: After paying for hotel rooms to shelter homeless people, Seattle deliberately left them vacant.

By the end of 2024, taxpayers were spending $4,200 a month per empty room at a time when thousands of residents were without a roof over their heads.
Seattle Spent Millions on Hotel Rooms to Shelter Unhoused People. Then It Stopped Filling Them.
Early last year, the city signed a $2.7 million lease extension to continue using a hotel’s rooms as shelter space. Yet despite committing to pay the rent, the city stopped sending people there.
