Last year we got a tip about a children's pastor who'd managed to stay in ministry for decades even as allegations of sex abuse trailed him across four states.

I kept pulling thread and found something far bigger: a 50-year pattern of abuse and cover-up in the largest Pentecostal denomination 🧵 1/
As a survivor, it's my duty to mark World Stroke Day by reminding you all that while face drooping, arm weakness and speech trouble are critical signs, you may also be having a stroke if you have a sudden severe headache, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, and/or numbness or tingling. #ActFAST
The thing that you need to understand about Milei's victory is that Argentina is in deep economic crisis, a third of the population is living in poverty, and Trump promised an economic bailout if, and only if, Milei won.
I love this so much.
And now for something totally unexpected: some good news!

Turns out you can make big, big strides in protecting kids from malaria using the lowest possible, cuddliest piece of technology. (open link) www.nytimes.com/2025/10/25/h...

Wouldn't it be better if instead of funneling slush money to Trump, billionaires and corporations just paid their fair share of taxes?

Estoy de acuerdo. Es muy alarmante.
De Croo is a champion for SRHR and gender equality, which is needed now when they are so under attack. But my hope is that in this role he becomes a staunch advocate for reform of the global financial, trade and debt systems that drive inequality and undermine progress on gender equality and SHRR.

Three small children ran through dust and gunfire, dodging rubber bullets to escape armed agents from ICE, FBI, DEA, and ATF. “I didn’t get caught,” one boy said. “Nobody got handcuffs on me.” No child should have to run from men with guns in America. But in Idaho, they did.

This is a win for women's rights in Japan, easing access to essential reproductive healthcare. Over 90 countries now have the morning after pill available without the need for prescription 🎉
Forcing women to go through highly invasive procedures for pregnancies that are not viable.… 🤦‍♀️
Wisconsin Gop lawmakers have proposed bill 546, a bill that would grant fetal personhood and allow only c-sections or inductions to treat ectopic, anembryonic, or molar pregnancies "so long as the physician conducting them makes reasonable medical efforts to save both parent and unborn child"

One of the many reasons why I am vegan....
How is Cheese Made?

Does that sound like a delicious process to you? 🫕

Cheese is one of the number one reasons people cite for not being able to go vegan. But when you put it like George Monbiot does, it starts to sound a whole lot less appealing 🧀
Conscientious objection does not belong in medical care.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
I really want to know the rationale for dismantling the CDC. Because not having nationwide capacity to respond to disease outbreaks just seems like you are setting up the country for something catastrophic…
CIFF has been an incredibly important donor for SRHR and feminist organizations. Them pulling out of funding US-based groups now, at a time when other major donors have also scaled back, is a major blow. It is understandable. But this will hurt.
A major UK philanthropy is ending funding to US NGOs because it’s too risky. This has happened before in authoritarian counties like Hungary and India. It’s a new low for the US though www.devex.com/news/major-f...

The word for these horrendous murders is femicide, death by misogyny. The U.S does not keep accurate statistics of femicide. If it did, the numbers would terrify.

I’ve just started reading this and it’s riveting (not least because it reaffirms and corroborates so much of what I’ve seen working in gender and global health over the past 25 years). don’t sleep on this.
Kindle has chosen Sick of It to be part of their 99p deal for October!

Given the first book I published back in 2010 was about £80 this is a much better deal. And cheaper than a whippy.

I had heard references to bad behavior at the Ryder Cup but couldn't find any details. This is absolutely shocking and sickening. But in a moment when some men are openly discussing stripping us of our rights and actively blaming us for the "state of the world" we're likely to see more of it.
Honestly terrifying.
