hi! i'm an animation professional who doesn't draw enough outside work. when i do, half the time it's something activisty. sometimes i do fan art, too.
Drawing of a clenched fist holding a carabiner attached to a chain wrapped around the wrist. in the background are old growth trees. The text reads "SAVE FAIRY CREEK" Drawing of an enormous excavator looming over a bottle depot, a small apartment building, and a house. The text reads "STOP PORT LIVING! DEFEND BROADWAY-CAROLINA" Fan art of Walther Caspari's "The Demon of Discord" (1899). A woman with long black hair walks away from a pile of skulls in a barren landscape. In the distance are tall skinny trees with spiked balls at the top. Fan art of Anakin Skywalker with his hair on fire. Ahsoka and Obi-Wan look on in shock, they are surrounded by blaster fire and the 501st Clone Army. Based on a "chaotic night club" photo.

Apparently! Though based on what I just read, this is from a 30 minute standalone film made a decade before the series, which i had also never heard of before seeing this clip

the reason i love animation is because with it, things like this are possible

"If you believe in land back why dont you give your land back" the same system that stole untold acres of indigenous land consolidated it in the hands of a minority of capitalists if I need to pay rent to an Indigenous nation rather than a parasite landlord that's at worst a lateral move for me

I've read a lot of reactionary writing over the years and this made me think about how - when they're engaged in critique - they can never make that critique beautiful or evocative of anything but disgust or rage.
Like how conservative comedy collapses because they get too mad at a dozen things at once and forget to actually deliver a punchline corresponding to where the joke started, the centers of these other conservative artworks cannot hold. They just get too damn hopped up and start cramming the work with their every grievance! Every underfunded school and library, every overfilled bus, every person sleeping and dying on the street, all for this.

Right?? I have a friend who is so completionist that he won't play newer games until he plays the predecessors- but it takes him forever to play even one game. I'm so sad he's just going to miss... everything. There's so much incredible stuff coming out all the time! Too much stuff even!!

I hope this helps someone, but I left it in my notebook about the effect of art becoming interesting.

anyway I'm also available for tips :)

yep! typically you're gonna want to put things on different layers within the symbol so they're easier to edit later, but it's not necessary. Basically every symbol has its own nested timeline. You'll want to make sure it's a Graphic (not Movie Clip) and set to Loop in its properties.

The days of the weird goth kid making analog photos as a hobby are gone except for the ones who are also rich
scribblechris.bsky.social
i know that contemporary DSLRs can and do take very beautiful photos but the colour and the film grain in these babies is gorgeous and i feel like a big merit to analog media here is that you get all that cool stuff basically for free (once you know what an f-stop is etc)

basically if you're a retro-gamer and you haven't played UFO 50 what are you doing (i get through games very slowly and i'm not a "retro-gamer" anyway so i haven't, but come on now)
scribblechris.bsky.social
I feel like I've posted this sentiment before but sometimes I'll see a meme that's like "bring back this era of games" and all I can think is "it never left! Look in your steam discovery queue or something! Those games are still being made!"
scribblechris.bsky.social
Nothing wrong with retro gaming but I feel like there is a part of the "fandom" that just want to wallow in nostalgia instead of play one of the many many games that are put out month after month that are operating in the exact genres they're pining over

Or just play the old games and be happy!

People who think the idea of "give me ideas" is something genuinely creative people want have literally never experienced the absolute EUPHORIA of a brainstorming breakthrough, either solo or with a human collaborator. They don't understand what is happening when artists create, on a basic level.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Yeah... eventually I have taken to just saying "selected projects" or whatever and only listing the ones that are more relevant / flashiest haha (I mean, you are doing similar in some of them, which works fine)
