Some of you might know I'm trying to learn Spanish. My teacher says that keeping a journal is a good idea. Having to write stuff down helps with memory and recall.

As a lazy alternative I've decided to use Bluesky for this. If you speak Spanish or are learning, feel free to follow @es.seand.me.uk

Alt text done right. It's here for everybody, not just those who can't see the pictures.

Chicharrones would be a risk to me if they were available here!

Wondering now what "chore list" is a euphemism for.

Yeah. You screwed up there.

Let's discuss this over a pint next week!

So overall it is a holistic solution.

But it also contributes to positive mental health?

Let's hope the suit doesn't cash with anything it shouldn't!

Yes. I assume the Gen-Z mind likes that sort of crap. Similar to the way they prefer the new Thomas the Tank Engine cartoons to the original ones

Motivation? There are some people that don't consume stuff unless it is in a video format. They might watch this, but ignore traditional text.

Personally I'm the opposite when it comes to learning.

It looks like a control panel for the beagle.

It's refreshing to see that some people still actually type URLs rather than just type random shit into their browser and hope what they want magically appears.

Otherwise it would just be plain old nutty cake.

Watching Gogglebox where they are watching Coronation Street. There's an actress in it who is probably famous, but I think of her as Jonny Briggs' sister "our Rita".

Congratulations to the Telegraph for a headline even worse than Sky News's sterling effort in telling us the new Archbishop's husband's name before her own.

If you look at the @telegraphnews.bsky.social headline, which manages to name him but not her, apparently so.
Torygraph headline: "Trump beaten to Nobel Peace Prize by Venezuelan politician
Despite brokering ‘peace in the Middle East’, US president is overlooked for accolade he has so openly coveted"

OK BlueSky network, can we do the six degrees of Kevin Bacon thing? Does anyone know Ian Livingstone or someone in similar tech/tabletop gaming/boardgame area? I've got a tech demo that I'd love to take further, or at least show to people who might 'get it'.

Reposts appreciated.

While a shift towards an extremely online society has necessitated a swathe of new privacy laws, let's not forget that we used to be able to look up someone's name in a book (occasionally in a dubious state on a string in a booth) and get their phone number and address 😬

Bring it along to Afternoon Pints. Forget to take it home.

Let me guess, it's one of those places that talks about these people as "resources", rather than people who have built up experience, relationships etc.

Carrot del sol looks like a programme worth checking out. Thanks!

You know how there’s been this big push towards encouraging older people to do puzzles, cognitive games, and to learn new things to keep them from succumbing to dementia?

Wonder where that’s gonna go with the rise of “outsource your cognitive functions to AI, it’ll be convenient” culture
steveisdamages.bsky.social
Cognition is like strength. Use is required to not just gain, but maintain. The more thinking and cognitive work we offload, the duller we become as a result.

It's like deciding you'll use a mobility scooter without need and then figuring out a year later that you can no longer walk.
