Some of you might know I'm trying to learn Spanish. My teacher says that keeping a journal is a good idea. Having to write stuff down helps with memory and recall.

As a lazy alternative I've decided to use Bluesky for this. If you speak Spanish or are learning, feel free to follow @es.seand.me.uk
My mum has lots of ornaments of different animals.

Most years I put one of them in their crib. Not a cow or a sheep, normally something like a dog that is much bigger than all the other statues.
My wife is proud of her Christmas tree. She certainly has some incredible decorations for it and it is beautiful. For a laugh I've hung a tatty old sock on it, alongside the finery. She hasn't clocked it yet, and it's been a week so far.

Bring back blogging tbh
As a humble podcaster, it’s good to see this headline. You feel immense pressure to get on the video pod train, but it’s so fucking expensive to do - which feels like the complete antithesis of what podcasting was supposed to be; a chance for the indies to have a shot.
‘Painful to hear!’ How podcasts’ rush to video is turning them into dreadful listens

The outrageous sanctioning of EU lawmakers and citizens in order to pressure democratically-elected European governments to change their laws shows just how intent the US government is on controlling Europeans' lives.

We must go into 2026 with eyes open.
The US can destroy a European's life with the swipe of a pen
This week's US sanctions against European lawmakers and privacy activists is a major escalation. And it shows the dangers of Europe relying on American economic infrastructure.

Slightly annoyed, but also slightly pleased that my tea supplier who had a "10% off" black Friday sale, has a "15% off" boxing day sale.

I tend to pay little attention to Black Friday sales, but I succumbed this time and this reminds me why I should I pay little attention.

It’s the most washing-up time of the year. So here’s a timely jeremiad.

These unhygienic, offensive lumps of plastic do everything the sink does, and less. It’s time to get rid, says comedy writer Jason Hazeley

A few years ago my Mum asked my Dad for a Ted Baker watch for Christmas - he did get her one but told us on Christmas Day how he’d initially struggled to find it before realising he had spent some time googling ‘Fred West watch’ by mistake.

The good thing about not visiting family is that I can get all the excess cardboard etc into the communal recycling bins, before they get full.

When you're the only person working on Christmas eve and all your colleagues have taken leave, I guess it's possible to take the piss with "Ach, sure let's finish up a bit early today"?

He isn't "losing" this money. This is called "paying tax like a responsible citizen and not hiding your money offshore" and we need to start recognising and applauding it.

Went out for a walk. Passed an off-license with a massive queue outside. Presumably people getting their booze at the last minute so that it is still fresh on Christmas day.

Was at a Christmas party with a load of clergy last night and as some people were leaving they found a person collapsed on the street outside so the Verger took over and called an ambulance and sent all the clergy away because "if they wake up surrounded by priests that'll just make things worse"
