Ok Edinburgh peeps, I want to know about your favourite MUNDANE, hidden in plain sight things.

You know the kinda thing: signs, pipes, drain covers, stonework, door-knockers, street art, shop fronts, doorways, tenement tiles, ornaments, gates etc that you like but suspect no-one else even notices.

I didn't realise Leith's Kirkgate shopping centre has been sold - another piece of "traditional" Leith vanishing/gentrified. Apparently shops have been given notice with closure later this year? And so soon after #BenchGate

When I wander round Greyfriars Kirk. I always stop and marvel at some the carvings on the various graves. There is whole story the mason is telling with this one.
A gravestone with carved Skelton that looks as if its falling out of the stone while carrying some sort heavy tome of book.

There is lot Georgian/Victorian ' look what Dad can afford after exploiting the British workers/empire" is on display in Greyfriars. I can not remember the family who had this monument..but you can see the money in every chisel carving.

#31daysofgraves Day 12 notable women. A famous face in an unmarked grave. Portraits of Elizabeth Johnston(e) Hall (1822-1901) hang in every major photographic collection in the world, but she is buried in a common grave in Warriston. #Edinburgh #PhotoHistory #HillAndAdamson #NewhavenFishwives 1/2

Photo of a row of brick buildings in Edinburgh, Scotland. It’s sunset and all the windows have a slight glow, but one single window directly reflects the sun as a bright orange ball of light. The sky behind the buildings is a soft pale blue fading into yellow, and the moon is visible.

Greek-style tall pointed obelisk in polished pink granite standing in a kirkyard. Most of the other gravestones are smaller and grey. The tower of the Kirk is prominent in the background. There are green shrubs and several bare-branched trees in the background.

All together now...🎵

Sunday morning, up with the lark
I think I'll take a walk in the park
Hey, hey, hey, it's a beautiful day
I've got someone waiting for me
And when I see her I know that she'll say
Hey, hey, hey, it's a beautiful day

#31DaysOfGraves Day 11: military. Sadly, we have so many military graves it's impossible to limit our post to just one. So many lives cut short, including our youngest at just 17. We will remember them. @cwgc.bsky.social #Edinburgh #CommonwealthWarGraves Post 3/3
