I make tabletop RPG stuff. The most popular thing I've made has been Procedures to Discover the Path Ahead. mastodon: https://dice.camp/@seedling mailing list: https://buttondown.email/seedling website: https://seedlinggames.com

About me:
I make adventures and other supplements in the roughly NSR side of OSR; I also play a lot of "story games" (recently: BitD, Wanderhome) and a variety of types of solo games. A lot of what I've been writing lately has been for Cairn or for a non-specific OSR-type system.

It's somewhat like those old school adventure games ("you are likely to be eaten by a grue"), something like Choose Your Own Adventure, with more RPG mechanic elements.

It also is very much an example of what I meant in my blog post about grounded fantasy:

Time for more occasional self-promotion

This one is a free/pwyw solo game. It's an RPG point crawl but played in the browser. It was an experiment around writing games in markdown.

Not totally sure what's been going on on bluesky but I'm also still on dice.camp

I am still on book 2 of 3 but the setting of Ancillary Justice/Ancillary Sword seems like it would be a good Cataphracts setting

Hmm maybe I need to raise my prices

When you go to print your #TTRPG remember that you need to charge at least about 6x the cost to print for sustainability.

Small to midsize publishers can take advantage of scale & you can't.

You are not Wizards, Evil Hat, Exalted Funeral, or Modiphius.

Ideally charge 10x an pay a bill.

What are the monthly prompt things happening this month for me to pretend I'm going to do

I vaguely remember there was maybe something bad about inktober

There's a Mork Borg thing?

it always slightly surprises me that people generally do not want to play every type of game

that's not a value judgement on that fact, just surprising that I seem to be an outlier

I should figure out what a matrix game is by playing one, one of these days

I adore this game. You should check it out, play it, and post your maps!

I should probably do occasional self-promotion

I made a system-neutral supplement called Procedures to Discover the Path Ahead. You can use it to make maps (or point crawls or paths) that are semi-random, where landmarks change as you travel

"Procedures to Discover the Path Ahead" is something I'd describe kindly as a stellar introduction to travel procedures. It does a wonderful job at stoking the embers of curiosity, remains consistent in its sense of circumstances, and I would rank it far higher than many other exploration toolkits.

Also I have physical copies on my itch page (US only) as well as in various stores online (not US only)

The random tables on cultures, local food, types of merchants, etc. are super useful if you're a GM and you need to suddenly fill in details in the moment.

This is one of the few "GM tool" RPG books I've found to be invaluable in play!

Procedures to Discover the Path Ahead is one of my favorite exploration generation supplements. You should buy it.

And now I am trying to figure out how to figure out if I should spend time (and money) on it

the one for Liminal Horror? Or a different one? I'm thinking of systems with a lot less support than Liminal Horror
seedlinggames.bsky.social
there's the theory of "systems need people to write adventures for them if we want there to be more cool indie systems" but also the practical question of is this something people actually want to support
