Periodically re-upping this b/c alas, things ain't great overall. Acute needs are all met, and I hate passing around the hat for myself, but I'd rather be like "hey, if I could fund another month while I still have savings and budget, that's MUCH more comfortable" than panic, y'know?

Wiktionary claims it's lamie for the plural

inasmuch as it's an english word, though, yeah it would be lamias for the english plural

oh yeah I would not recommend it to you

I think you might like parts of it the way I'd play it (no Fabula Points, no collaborative worldbuilding, emphasis on exploration, added detail to noncombat resolution, etc.), but not core

you might still like reading it though as long as you skip those bits

This is a great read and is very much my opinion on Fabula Ultima.

I have very strong disagreements on fundamental aspects of gameplay with both the game and the design, and yet the game is still well-designed and put together enough that I like it with relatively minor tweaks.

also, getting out of your comfort zone is about trying something once, not continuing to do things that you already know you dislike!

if you've never tried a thing, ok, give it a shot, see if you like it

if you have tried it and know that you dislike, continuing isn't growth, it's just punishment

yeah, for me it's both that I don't want to view the game at the authorial level as a player, and the simple fact that changing layers takes effort and is (as you said) exhausting to do repeatedly

in traditional games, both playing and DMing let me pick a lane and stick to it
