Who benefits from that? Unless we're getting to the stage of people paying bots to act as agents that liaise with bots paid for by companies to avoid having to get a human to do anything. Like in WALL-E

Exactly. One of the worst and most egregious examples of growth hacking that I've ever seen.

I believe that this only/mostly affects the US. But that's small comfort

Thanks Rachel. I've shared on LinkedIn and via the Community Consultant Collective as I know some nonprofit consultants there.

I hope the US or regional/state nonprofit bodies let their networks know. This is shocking.

It's not been reported widely, and it's doing the rounds mostly on LinkedIn and in nonprofit circles.

The situation is actually worse, as donations made to the unclaimed pages may not even get to the nonprofits, may have to go via another payment service and may take 15-45 days...

They mined public data to set up the pages, left their 'additional tip' of 16.5% on as default, didn't notify the organisations, and set the SEO feature on - creaming off profits, outranking org URLs on organic search and AI-generated results. And there's more...
