Who benefits from that? Unless we're getting to the stage of people paying bots to act as agents that liaise with bots paid for by companies to avoid having to get a human to do anything. Like in WALL-E

'Get rid of the migrants or I'll become a migrant' is quite the argument

Also really ineffective. Car collisions and disease are better at the job. They dress up, parade around, and don't even achieve a thing... like a Met Ball for sadists

‘The threat couldn’t be more urgent and imminent. Yet here we are, still putting our head in the sand.’

@carolecadwalla.bsky.social says it’s ‘peculiar’ that the case of Farage ally Nathan Gill admitting to making pro-Russia speeches for cash isn’t being followed more closely.
Exactly. One of the worst and most egregious examples of growth hacking that I've ever seen.

I believe that this only/mostly affects the US. But that's small comfort
Thanks Rachel. I've shared on LinkedIn and via the Community Consultant Collective as I know some nonprofit consultants there.

I hope the US or regional/state nonprofit bodies let their networks know. This is shocking.
It's not been reported widely, and it's doing the rounds mostly on LinkedIn and in nonprofit circles.

The situation is actually worse, as donations made to the unclaimed pages may not even get to the nonprofits, may have to go via another payment service and may take 15-45 days...
I just logged into my inactive account on the birdsite and although you can find a few mentions, it's hard to see amidst the donation asks

Hard to see any mention in FB groups or Slacks...
They mined public data to set up the pages, left their 'additional tip' of 16.5% on as default, didn't notify the organisations, and set the SEO feature on - creaming off profits, outranking org URLs on organic search and AI-generated results. And there's more...

Want proof of where the nonprofit sector is engaging online? Look at where the GoFundMe scandal is being discussed (more below).

A LOT on LinkedIn, a little here, a tiny bit on Mastodon, and crickets on Threads.

Where else - FB groups? Slacks? The nazi binfire formerly known as Twitter?

We need more people to follow Carnegie's example.
You can't take the benjamins with you, kids
“The man who dies rich dies disgraced. The good of the community must come before the wealth of the individual.” — Andrew Carnegie.

He lived by his words, donating 90% of his wealth before he died.

An OpenAI executive said GPT-5 found solutions to 10 "previously unsolved" math problems when in reality all it did was find online references to places where people had already solved them

Pritzker: Throughout history we've learned that tyranny doesn't arrive with dramatic proclamations. Most times it comes quietly wrapped in the language of law and order, with fingers pointed at someone who doesn't look like you, promising safety while demanding that we sacrifice our neighbors.
Important point - a false populist is usually a demagogue (and Farage is definitely a demagogue)

I forsee problems

Not exploitative or shallow, but intentional and authentic community. Building WITH people, not talking AT them.

I do this work because it matters.
