I don't think voting for better candidates where possible is useless. The difference between Cuomo and Mamdani to NYC residents is not superficial. But it's important to recognize the fundamental restraints of party politics.

I need ppl to understand that no matter how well meaning someone running as a democrat is, when they are absorbed and become somewhat dependent on the party, they will make concessions and use language they provide etc

It’s like how capitalists, no matter how well meaning, need to increase profit

Worth emphasizing that Trump's singular trick for facilitating a deal in Israel was just...being publicly frustrated with Netanyahu and threatening to walk. That's not a unique talent, it's just a thing Biden personally and ideologically was unwilling to do. Lowest bar cleared to great relief.

Bari Weiss puts a lot of evil out into the world but, like Charlie Kirk, if it wasn't them it would be someone else with the same backing. Neither is/was charismatic nor even photogenic. They just have the backing of the people who decide which views are legitimate and amplified.

the reason many jews, including non- and anti-zionists, are upset by this meme is because it relies on an older antisemitic trope about jews being a parasitic race with no culture of our own. but a consequence of diaspora is that our culture has always been enmeshed with the societies we live in.
