EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

A mom in Houston reported her 15-year-old son with autism missing. She spent 6 days terrified, searching for him. The whole time, Houston police knew exactly where he was since they helped ICE place him in a refugee facility.

This is beyond cruel.

This ¶ is key to how Comey tries to get beyond the high bar on vindictive: the way Halligan was installed to prosecute him.

The president tearing down the White House and his nominee to lead an ethics office bragging about his "Nazi streak" seem to be things that would promptly end a presidency?

"43% drop in peanut allergies"

Good example of how science evolves.

And "how a public health recommendation can change children’s health.”

And how good research (support, pls) informs policy.

Trump using a Chinese* excavator to destroy the White House is a bit on the nose as metaphors go.

Been wrong before but demolishing part of the White House while prices rise, the government is shut down, and health premiums are about to go through the roof? Might break through

was randomly browsing r/megalophobia earlier only to see an image of stygiomedusa with a snorkeler at the surface, which is bonkers since it's a deep sea jelly. 🦑🧪

after a little digging, it came from this paper: doi.org/10.1590/S198...

Destruction of the White House East Wing began today. Here it is in better times with better residents.

shocked to learn that the president lied about this and also this is a horrible defacing of a building that belongs to the people of the United States, not donald trump
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

I just love the Louvre bit of how they used a mechanical lift to get in, and then escaped on two scooters.

Whatever you think of the White House as a building or a symbol, the fact is that the image of it being torn apart on a whim two days after 7 million people hit the streets against autocracy is going to make a HUGE amount of people really, really angry, and that's an energy that should be harnessed.

Just took a look at who is voting in Pennsylvania so far, and turnout is a lot bluer than 12 months ago. (I'll wait until tomorrow for exact #s as I found the numbers for 14 days out from 2024 (and we're 15 days out today).)

This is great news, and very much needed.🔥

Democrats are the ones fighting for rights and accountability.

Republicans are fighting to protect the Epstein files.
Rep Robert Garcia just dropped a bombshell 🔥

The House Oversight Committee is forming a joint investigative unit with the Senate to track and expose every single act of ICE misconduct.
Accountability is coming.
No more hiding behind badges. No more abuse without consequence.

The Republicans could end this. He is erasing history. He is wiping away this country’s past for pure ego and probably spite. I loathe this man. And history will not look kindly on him nor the Congress who are allowing this to happen.
