WHO THE FUCK IS STILL VOTING FOR MIKE LEE?! Worst performing elected rep of the last round, opposed to any kind of future planning, abusive at best in communicating with constituents. I suppose he's an old boy so the other old boys are keeping him in, despite being 20 years over the hill.

Tipsy Scott is saying to go out and smash him cos he's a fucking dick, but rational Scott is remembering what mum said about dad: "he's not worth doing time for, no matter how justified"

Hopefully he just fucks off and leaves everyone alone

Yeah, I think even when I think of forests I think of bodies of water. Kitekite Falls in Waitakere. The bridge over the river as you come out of the tunnel in Karangahape Gorge. Lake Rotoiti in Nelson Lakes. I think it's hard to get too serious about shit when there's a big ass body of water.

That's crazy! I have a similar feeling, but I guess I never really connected with the beach, so mine is a hut in a bush clearing in a valley somewhere on the bend of a stream. I guess all the same basic principles just with more shade? Less likely to have a dairy nearby for snacks though.

Lovely practice last night. We had 9, and rang a lot of Plain Bob Doubles & Triples; Grandsire Doubles & Triples, Stedman Doubles, and Reverse Canterbury Doubles.

That's right search 'Historians' in this Manatu Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage document and its returns no results because after 80+ years they're going! Historians matter but not to this government. #HistoryMatters #DontWantToPickYourGhostKumara www.mch.govt.nz/sites/defaul...

Perhaps the analogy can be pushed out to something like: sometimes, of course, you get a better result (although more tiring) to do it by yourself if the other person is just standing there with their finger up their nose, in the way, and preventing you from doing the thing

JUST FUCKING GET RID OF THE TAX RELIEF FOR LANDLORDS THEN

If we're making thousands redundant from civil roles, cutting benefits, cutting school + hospital services, cutting public transport ... maybe we could just not hand billions to people who are pretty well off already?

18 & 19 year olds with no income support should “just go where the jobs are” said the Prime Minister who famously had his limo deliver him across the road.

“Good luck with the train-hopping, you plucky young hobos,” he added, suggesting hedge-&-ditch as an affordable alternative to bed-&-breakfast.

The prime minister says businesses are 'crying out for young people' as advocates decry the changes as a punishment.

OMG this is me. Especially when I'm in a supervision meeting. I'm all "your words make sense. I think that would make my thesis much better. I just lack the ability to actually deliver that"

Some days I honestly feel like I’m not smart enough to handle the times we’re living through. Like I don’t have the processing power to handle the daily horrors and come out on the other side with a clear actionable plan on what to do. I’m trying but my brain keeps outputting “does not compute”.

For some reason, our Google Nest thinks we're in Patumāhoe ("Pa-Too-Ma-Hoe") or Singapore, but only when Bernie is asking, so we get very random weather updates 🤣 As far as I know, we've not used a google device in either location.

I assume the squidmobile is sufficiently tall that you can see it? I know people sometimes tie balloons to their pet turtles or aged dogs so they don't lose them

Aroha mai for the potato quality image (taken from a moving car), but is it appropriate for what appears to be a current fire engine (rural fire) to be parked up on a prominent street corner covered on all sides with political ads? Google suggests the truck might not be from Auckland?

Concept for a new fantasy series: fae (& associated beings) looking at the current climate & using fairy circles (etc) to smuggle trans people to safety, rescue migrants out of ICE raids, and so forth. I'd watch that shit

Unfortunately, courts in Aotearoa have accepted an argument of gay panic, although thankfully I don't think they have been successful defences

The murderer of Dr Stanley K Runcorn (who revolutionised plate tectonics) is sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The murderer tried a "gay panic" defence. The judge said “I hope you rot in hell because what you did was callous and cruel.”

What fantastic news! 💕 A great step forward for equality & diversity in religion. When her installation ceremony happens in the new year, I think we should ring a quarter peal (#campanology) to mark the occasion

Media council said RNZ should have recognised the story was pushed by a group with an anti-trans agenda and been more careful about balance as a result. Rnz have basically just said “no, we refute that entirely” in a way that shows an absolute misunderstanding of the context we currently operate in
