I heard voters talking this way on Sarah Longwell's focus group podcast last week. They were VA voters planning to vote D for gov and R for atty gen.

A couple of them mentioned that maybe a split ticket would be enough to keep trump from punishing them for having a D governor. They were serious.

In 2011 when he took office, Cuomo pushed through one of the first state laws legalizing same-sex marriage, convincing Republicans to vote for the measure. He championed it aggressively at a time when Barack Obama and many Dems were against same-x marriage rights. 3/
