Farage has forgotten the popularity of ‘Educating Yorkshire” and forgotten the lived experience of literally millions of families . Stupid, stupid man.

This IPSOS chart is why I think it's a big mistake for Farage to publicly turn on teachers. A politician said what? 😒
Most trusted professions chart with teachers highly trusted in 5th place with 85% and politicians obviously right at the bottom on 11%. Nurses are the most trusted.

111 told me to go to A&E so here I am, 1:38am. Waiting room looks less busy than I would expect late Saturday night and I've gone swiftly through preliminaries.

Triage, blood pressure and weight taken, followed by blood tests and then ECG all completed within 35 min of arrival.

Bugger!
Currently sitting in A&E, RSCH.
I've been here often enough for Kenneth (97),fir whom I'm the registered carer, but this time it's for me.

I accessed 111 online earlier for some symptoms I originally thought were side effects of my ancrr meds - or could be heart related.

Glad to see Nigel Farage has finally remembered Nathan Gill, former leader of Reform in Wales - found guilty of taking bribes from Russia.

Maybe he'll now remember how much he took from Putin's propaganda broadcaster Russia Today for all his TV appearances when he was a MEP?

Pope Leo says Catholic politicians must be judged on the full range of their policy positions.

is not really pro-life."

Pope Leo XIV says 'inhuman treatment of immigrants' in the U.S. isn't 'pro-life'
Pope Leo XIV weighed in on U.S. politics, saying that Catholic politicians must be judged on the full range of their policy positions and suggesting that the country's immigration policy is "inhuman."

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

Never forget this: The forces rigging our economy, undermining our democracy, polluting our planet, and stoking hatred are counting on you to give up. Cynicism is how they win. Stay clear-eyed and ready for the fight ahead.

In Wales, Cornwall, Edinburgh, London and so many places when most 30mph roads were changed to 20mph, people injured or killed by motor vehicles reduced by 20%+. With minimal change to journey times and £2bn saving in insurance costs it's a huge win. bit.ly/4gIBPlJ

Gods, this is so tiring. How many times does it need saying?
The way to stop the small boats problem, overnight, is to announce safe, legal routes to asylum in the UK.
Immediately, the people smugglers are out of a job.
Of course, if what you want is more performative batshittiness…

Anyone know why
@Nigel_Farage
and his fellow MEPs voted against plans to tackle Russian propaganda?

Coincidently, it was around the time Nathan Gill was taking bribes from Russia.

I’m in this picture and I like it. Very much agree with this (English in alt) from @bartvanloo.bsky.social, whom I had the pleasure to meet earlier today with @dzyrl.bsky.social at the tour for his new book Stoute Schoene / Le Tour de la Grande Bourgogne in Brussels.
In short, everyone can find their place in the mosaic [of Belgian history]. Let’s think about our past together. We can love our roots without being nationalist. One can be madly in love with Flanders, without being a Flemish nationalist.

These are not new ideas - they are completely traditional, standard Catholic teaching, which too many prominent Catholics seem to ignore.

"It’s not partisan politics to state Catholic Church teachings. It is doing what the Catholic faith and tradition call them to do — help those in need."

Completely appropriate.

I like that the papal name "Leo" refers back to Leo XIII and the start of Catholic Social Teaching - which alongside emphasising financial support for the poor, specifically includes also the rights of workers to form unions, who putting CST into practice.
