Hello new followers! I am trans and autistic but wrote a book that is about neither of those things so neither of those communities tend to know about it. It’s called I Heart Politics and it’s a good read, I promise

ICO orders DWP to

"disclose the list of all AI tools DWP plans to place on the Algorithmic Transparency Recording Standards Hub"

I.e. publish details of all the AI they are using unless there is a valid reason to keep it secret

...

FIVE MINUTES LATER

Machado issues her first statement since being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and makes a thinly-veiled appeal to Trump for US intervention in Venezuela:

This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom.
We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy.
I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!

It's never the comms. Labour's comms is grey because in the absence of a clear strategy for what the government wants to achieve, no-one can defend or articulate what the government says in an interesting or exciting way.

I do wonder if Labour might look at the sorts of people dominating the discourse and dominating the content wars and maybe, just maybe, rethink the sorts of grey figures they routinely put up for interviews, instructed at that to be as cautious as possible. Things have changed. Their comms hasn’t.

Labour has nothing *to* comm. It's bankrupt politically and morally.

(It’s not middle class to fight with and for the most marginalised and for our very survival. An understanding of the working class that excludes trans and racialised people is not an understanding of class. Dempsey has swallowed an elite right-wing culture war stereotype of the working class.)

One of the things about this study is that a lot of baby and toddler books are written in house, by editors. So the study reveals the whiteness of editorial in kidlit even if not explicitly. But, big picture, this trend is unacceptable. I remember so many promises www.theguardian.com/books/2025/o...
‘Catastrophic decline’ in Black representation in children’s books
A report by charity Inclusive Books for Children found that of the 2,721 books surveyed, only 51 featured a Black main character, down by 21.5% since 2023

The central claim of gender liberation is one of individual agency and freedom, that one's gender identity and expression need not be anchored to your chromosomes or your genitals, and that you can and should explore that space even if you ARE cisgender. No more, no less. But that scares libs.

Particularly because the central claim of "transgenderism" is not, and never has been, that it is an innate, immutable trait since birth. That's cishet liberal bullshit they use to convince their alcoholic aunt why they shouldn't use slurs against their enby cousin.

I am obviously here for values-driven innovation but you have to be a bit more specific about whose values. All innovation is values driven, and in this case it's apparently "the values of the King and Johnny Ive", two people who have hitherto had no opportunity to impose their worldview on others.
De Leon will argue that a values driven, interdisciplinary approach to innovation is required and illustrate this through examples of initiatives such as the Terra Carta Design Lab, conceived by His Majesty, King Charles III and Sir Jony Ive, and the UN and UNESCO supported Design for Good Alliance.
