I have long believed that we should be WAY more vocal about how police and ICE constantly murder dogs, and I think this is great messaging actually.

The reality is that you can mobilize a whole lot of usually tuned-out Americans around a “someone is being mean to hecking doggos” cause.

I make it back and find Tape 2 is almost ready. Again, we can't check these back. If anything is wrong (audio slip, dropped frames) there's nothing we can do about it. it's either you watch/hear that shit or you get nothing. So i grab Tape 2, and i sprint BACK THROUGH SXSW CROWD on 6th.

Tape 1 is done, I sprint it THROUGH SXSW CROWD ON SIXTH STREET for FIVE blocks to get to the Ritz. I make it there, gasp at the door guy "festival screening?" and my guy points up a flight of stairs... so i sprint up stairs, find Projectionist, hand over tape and say "i'll be back with tape 2"

the solution? lay back half the program (45 minutes) to HDCAMSR and run Tape 1 down to the Alamo Ritz on 6th, and while that's happening, Tape 2 is laying back back at the house. We have to watch the layback live. we can't QC/check it back. there's no time. 3 sets of eyes on all monitors, praying...

well that's because we almost shit the bed. we got our Badges _before_ we delivered these Tapes, and on the Day of Delivery, the Assist in charge couldn't be found. so, myself a producer and the EP had to problem solve on the fly, as the screening time quickly approached.

some sent in MiniDV tapes, some sent in DVD's, some sent in VHS tapes. we had to ingest all this (capture) assemble into a timeline (on a Flame) and then output to HDCAMSR (pre-tsunami). The final output would be 2 tapes, about 45 min each.

Why 2 tapes you might ask?

a pretty sweet deal, we do normal *'easy' work and in exchange we get badges to see All The Shows. it only _looks_ easy on the surface: SXSW requires film fest submissions be up to spec but dear reader i am here to tell you that the film fest Auteurs did not abide the specs.
