IMO, the "left" is so used to being abused, powerless, and thrown under the bus that a lot of people--particularly those still operating in the Dem Party--will make excuses for anything to justify their continued participation. They are desperate for power, hence the defense of Bernie and Platner.

Genocides do not end when the systems that cause them remain in power. It’s that simple. Genocide changes over time. The 500 year genocide on turtle island never ended, it just rebrands. The genocide in Gaza is just rebranded. This can’t possibly end with a US empire in existence.
