Again, the point I'm making isn't about what anyone should or shouldn't do in response to a death of a political figure. That's between y'all and y'all's god, far as I'm concerned. I'm just saying that if you live like a monster, your family is going to deal with a lot of shit when you die.
Only using this post as an example because 1) David Simon fucking rules and 2) I do believe he means that first sentence entirely.

I'm not saying the family (at least the non-political ones) deserve any disrespect. But if you live a Dick Cheney life, you're cursing your family to live through that.
A tale I must tell today on my late mother, and in doing so, I mean no actual disrespect to the Cheney family, grieving as they are for the actual loss of their loved one. The humor that follows is that of the Simon family's dark and dystropic sense of humor and so, an apology in advance.
However...
Ugh, of course we get a fucking Temu-ass off-brand angel of death in this timeline.
If I don't know from the news or context clues, I just assume people are still super psyched that Kissinger is dead.
Quick note: SCOTUS is actually the third branch of government, specifically the Judicial Branch.
I woke up tired. Was up until 4am with a sick dog. Feel physically and mentally awful. A morning like so many others. Look to the heavens. I just need something, some kind of win to keep going. Open up my phone.

"Dick Cheney has died"

Alright, fine. Earned a few more days. Clever game, universe.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney has died, his family said in a statement. He was 84 abcnews.go.com/Politics/for...

Sometimes you wake up and you just think, "Oh, I'm just a fucking loser. I can't do anything right, I can't seem to catch a break. I don't even know why I'm here."

And then Scott Adams kicks in your door. "I HEARD SOMEONE THOUGHT THEY WERE A WEIRD FUCKING LOSER. WELL HOLD THE FUCK ON NOW COWBOY!"
rip in advance to Scott "Mr Dilbert" Adams who is perhaps most famous for writing a now-deleted four part blog post where he attempted to hypnotize his readers into nutting and asked them to email him after they have nutted to tell him about the nut.

I'm sorry, quick thing.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh man, hahaha, fuck you Brianna Wu. Nice try bitch. You tried to ride that right wing grift train even though literally everyone told you exactly what would happen and now you're sad. Tough break, girl.
Sometimes in my pointless scrolling, I stumble across something that is so true that I'm shocked I've never even thought to consider it.

This? This is a hellfire missile of truth.

It's the best, I'm so happy every time I see it in the wild.
I mean, I don't think there's a huge overlap between Broadway musical fans and, let's say, folks that had any fucking idea what Kendrick was talking about in "They Not Like Us". So if you want rap in a Broadway musical, it almost by default has to be for people scared of actual rap.
"Architects" by Rise Against features a line in the bridge ("don't you remember when we were young and we wanted to set the world on fire"), which is referencing "I Was A Teenage Anarchist" by Against Me! but adds "Because I still am and I still do."

Actually good advice to do that before writing, always, just so that, you know, hypothetically, maybe you don't include a weird teenage group sex scene in your otherwise mostly excellent demon clown horror book.
Apple Music has this really cool feature, infinite autoplay, which recommends music that may or may not be in your library that you might enjoy based on the songs you've picked before.

It's awesome because sometimes I forget how much Arcade Fire fucking sucks until it gets randomly inserted.
...patients who have lost the ability to pay (usually after Medicare runs out), which is so much worse than watching TikToks on the company's time. So I'm usually in the situation that a lot of us end up in too often of just "Well, fuck, I don't really care if anyone wins this one."
It's always fucked when the excessive sins of capitalism slam against the seemingly unending capacity that some humans have to be lazy pieces of shit. Like, sure, this guy is an asshole and whatever happens, that just is what it is. But also, we have weekly meetings about how to discharge...
I usually HATE writing people up, even for stuff that on paper is poor performance. Because there's burnout, personal stress, a thousand things other that aren't helped at all by getting put on a PIP, so it almost always feels like I'm kicking someone while they're down.

I was ok with this one.
Lol, completely.

99% of the time, I'm right with you. But this guy is in charge of our hospital's biomedical equipment and he's three months behind on preventative maintenance for things like ventilators and telemetry monitors, mostly because he spends a lot of time watching TikToks in his office.
I had to put an employee on a final performance improvement plan yesterday, since he hadn't hit his monthly metrics again. Had to tell him that he needs to take this seriously and be a professional.

I was a giant pink crayon, the other manager was Jason on an inflatable donkey.

It was great.
Like, just to use examples from my library, I love Tool. Lyrically very deep, instrumentally incredibly layered and complex. The kind of music that requires a good sound system to truly appreciate.

But I also like Motörhead, even though there's no message or complexity at all. It just rocks.
Out of curiosity, mostly for my own creative endeavors, do you find "people will enjoy listening to this, even if it's for a moment" to be a quality that makes something worth paying attention to? Or do you think that a good piece of music has to say something more meaningful?
Yeah. Kind of feels like seeing an AI snuff film. Like, I'm glad nobody was actually brutally murdered on camera, that's great. But I'm not chalking that one up as a win for AI. You still poisoned the water and ignited the sky to make a video nobody should ever even want to watch, much less enjoy.
