It's true that in many ways equality is more prevalent in Nordic countries but where we're going, doesn't look good: inequality is rising, we have a horrible right-wing government in Finland etc. It's worrying.
I find it funny how presenters in the UK say:"isn't Green Party meant to be just about the environment." Like it's a difficult concept that environmental justice and social & economic justice go together.
Coming from a Nordic country, this doesn't sound 'radical' at all, just very common sense.

The solution to the male loneliness epidemic is attending a local Democratic Party canvassing event.
WOW. 81% of women 18-29 voted for Mamdani, 80% for Sherril, and 78% for Spanberger.

Gen Z women aren't playing around.

She is telling an accurate story of recent history - the triple punch of austerity, Brexit and covid. It's spot on. But it is terribly strange to say it now in government when you were not prepared to say it in opposition.

Obama: "They never miss a chance to scapegoat minorities and blame DEI for every problem under the sun. You got a flat tire? Must be DEI. Your wife kicked you out? DEI. Who knew?"

Interesting paper! When you ask people about the most important issue "facing the country," they often say immigration. But when you ask them about issues facing them personally, it doesn't crack the top 10.

This indicates that voters are reacting to media narratives, not their own experience.

Nobody had even heard of Katie Lam outside of Westminster until about two weeks ago.

Literally all it takes to be considered "brilliant" and a "rising star" on the right of British politics now is just a willingness to say something slightly more racist than all of your competitors

To this point, the top eight news stories served by Google News this morning, from six sources, are all about asylum seekers. To call the British news media unfit for purpose would be charitable.

"It's not for me to say to people 'don't vote Labour because you're going to split the vote'. It's Labour's job to offer a better solution".

Perfectly put.

People are sick of being told there are only two options: bad or worse.

People aren't leaving the Labour Party.

The Labour Party have left them.

Absolutely amazing. Where you gonna go Matt? Hope they don't treat you like shit for some irrational reason.
'Get rid of the migrants or I'll become a migrant' is quite the argument

Draft Tory legislation on removing indefinite leave to remain is insane.

Would chuck out those not earning over £38K - including many pensioners!

+ social protections seems to include child benefit, so load of people with (British!) kids!

They'd remove my sis & mum who've been here 50 years.

I almost don't mind being stuck at home with flu (or likely covid, given it's doing rounds atm) as I found this mindbogglingly good BBC documentary about us, humans. We were - are - the wanderer species.

god I love #science.

I think our current government's key message is: "Reform would destroy the UK and we nonetheless promote rather similar policies." There's no leadership, no moral clarity, just mixed messaging.
From the committee: "When authoritarians seize power, it is crucial to recognise courageous defenders of freedom who rise and resist."

I knew we could count on the integrity of Norwegians to make a good decision. Thank you.

Must be confusing that a party can be about more than one issue.

Inequality in a rich country like the UK (yes, it is) is a political choice. Acknowledging it must feel 'dangerous' for some.

Also, at least get your insults correct: Putin's Russia has very little to do with communism.

I cannot understand what these people think the purpose of human life is?

It is *not* "pursue joy, deal justly, love well, try to understand as much and see as much of this beautiful world and of the deepness, richness and variety of human culture and experience as you can before you die"?
How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.
