If there was any video game developer who came off like a rockstar, it was definitely Tomonobu Itagaki.

The man gave us the fastest, horniest fighting games ever with Dead or Alive, and delivered punishing intensity with the 2000s' Ninja Gaiden. There was no one quite like him.

Rest in peace.

You’d think we’d grow up over these stereotypes, but it ends up being real harmful when a legit sex pest happens to be attractive and claims to hate “degenerate art” just gets a free deflection shield and knows they can get away with it.

I think it was a shame with Itagaki when he was accused of sexual harassment (they were in a consensual relationship and investigations later determined the accusations were spurious/retaliatory).

And everyone in 2003 went, “Well of course he’s a sex pest. He makes games and LOOKS like that!”

RIP to a king. It says a lot that Ninja Gaiden 2004 and its sequel were two of the few games that actually rivaled DMC. They're very uneven games (and Itagaki had very uneven output) but the soul they had burned bright, and continues to do so even after his has left us.

It's 7 minutes of unbridled madness, violence, sex, and weapons-grade cocaine.
The movie itself is OK, but the first 7 minutes are infuckingcredible.
