That’s a key to the determined resistance to ICE in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago; it’s a racial plurality neighborhood (about a third white, about a third Latino, remaining third Black & Asian), & the non-Latinos have banded together to protect their neighbors from Kavanaugh sweeps.

The fact that protests now feature people who don’t normally have to worry about what might happen to them in an adverse encounter with security forces is a HUGE DEAL.

It means that the “real” victims don’t have to suffer alone. It means that some people care about something more than themselves
kevinmkruse.bsky.social
Someone in my mentions is upset because these people haven’t suffered the worst at ICE’s hands and therefore they shouldn’t be praised for being out on the streets?

Yeah, no. To push back on these people we need everyone — especially those with relative privilege — to get up and get involved.

caught my vampire neighbor creeping through my front door. he claims my saying “for sure dude, we should definitely hang out sometime” the other night counts as an invitation, but I disagree. we’re on hold with the etiquette hotline

Sounds like they're also doing the coward's deflection that BOTH PSYCHO AND SILENCE DOES by going "He isn't trans! He's JUST doing all the things society fearmongers trans women do! Silly!"

That detail is never retained. It's a bullshit cover that does not work so the filmmakers can sleep at night.

A serial killer of women whose horrific actions are some of the worst in the history of serial killers and the cultural memory insists on pinning it on one of the most marginalized groups of women in the world.

Ed Gein himself would be proud.
transsalamander.bsky.social
Might be sharing this clip often given there's a new Netflix thing that wants to get us killed

We're getting to the point where Gein's murders are nearly outside of living memory but the transmisogynistic myth it helped establish MUST be continually resurrected. Horrifying

Love how nearly 70 years on people are still trying to launder the transphobia of anonymous men in the 50's straight making shit up for the era's equivalent of clickbait.
transsalamander.bsky.social
The idea Ed Gein could have inspired Psycho or Silence of the Lambs is entirely because of some unattributed, made up speculation from men high on patriarchy in the 50's, and it's so fucking disgusting and violently transmisogynistic that anyone is still trying to push that lie.
tamrabonvillain.bsky.social
Having Ed Gein talk to Christine Jorgensen about being trans while they play a recreation of THE SCENE from Silence of the Lambs, and then have her tell him he's not trans by paraphrasing a line by Janice Raymond is certainly a choice
tamrabonvillain.bsky.social
This new Monster season is like what if Ed Gein's life was actually an adaptation of Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs and not the other way around.

Your reminder—or maybe no one ever told you—that complications from a measles infection include immune amnesia (where you lose immunity to everything), vision and hearing loss, brain damage, and a fatal brain disease called Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis that can show up years later.

Hundreds of children in multiple states are in quarantine and on remote learning due to measles outbreaks.

The decline in MMR vaccinations has resulted in the US experiencing an increase of measles cases with 1563 total cases & 3 deaths since January.

It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap
HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "I'm willing to pay more for quality products if they are made in America, by Americans, who are paid a decent income." The tweet shows Norman Rockwell's "Freedom of Speech" painting, which is often used to show the tweeter is expressing a brave opinion. HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "MINIMUM WAGE JOBS WERE NOT MEANT TO BE A CAREER. Why does no one understand this? Entry level jobs are STEPPING STONES to better jobs. No one wants to work towards that though." HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "Buy $5 gloves instead of $50 ones. Trust me." The tweet shows a box of "Gorilla Grip" gloves. The label on Gorilla Grip gloves show they're made in China.

Ultimately, the death of US manufacturing is about this attitude. It's easy to say "buy american or stfu" because virtue signaling is free. But it's hard to actually sustain a business because many Americans simply don't want to pay what it costs to produce things ethically in this country
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

Almost like they need to be abolished to live in a free society!

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
notalawyer.bsky.social
the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

It’s impossible to overstate how much “abolish ice” is the normie position now here in chicago — just countless random moms at toddler soccer on a park district field asking me where I bought my anti-ice t-shirt. average people don’t like our neighborhoods being terrorized.

And did I mention it's FREE!?
Alastor: It's worth the price
Vaggie: I'll be nice
Husk: Full a' drunks
Cherri: Full a' cunts!
Niffty: Full a' sticky floors covered in junk

IT KEEPS GOING FROM THERE I'M NEARLY OUT OF CHARACTERS LMAO

Also recaps the important parts of last season, and explains where Charlie is emotionally.

The more I listen to Hazbin Guarantee the more I'm convinced this is one of Sam & Andrew's (I assume?) crowning achievements, lyrically.

Ten characters that each get at least one line showcasing their characterizations AND how they interact as two families and it all works and flows beautifully.

White people who have spent decades thinking “Born in the USA” is patriotic and “Every Breath You Take” is a great wedding song are suddenly very concerned about not being able to understand lyrics to some songs at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Porn addiction isn’t real
It’s just not
All of the ”science” about it comes from groups with religious ties, anti-sex worker ties, or grifting “therapists”

A compulsive relationship with porn is about the individual, not the porn
