Probably occurs to me because she's got a new movie out, but very few people gave a fuck about Kathryn Bigelow's Near Dark or Strange Days for ages. Particularly Strange Days - I was a lone voice in the wilderness on that one for 20 years.

Someone ditched a tub of icecream in the bread aisle at Woollies and by the time I stumbled across it, it was room temperature. I don't think they've got their eye on the ball here.

I've never had an issue with toy soldiers or guns, but it does strike me as a bit weird that we give kids tiny models of guys who just got killed. It's like the last shot of Gallipoli.

The sheer speed of cultural turnover has robbed us of the Mad Magazine Movie Satire and it sucks. Mort Drucker would have stuck his pens in his eyes trying to beat the shrinking theatrical window.

Here’s a primer on ‘primer.’

It’s pronounced ‘PRIMM-er’ if you mean “a small book” or “a short informative piece of writing.”

It’s pronounced ‘PRY-mer’ if you mean “an initial coat of paint.”
