But… the President says the country sending the thing pays the tariff. Surely, the President, himself a successful businessman, a stable genius and a Nobel laureate, understands how tariffs work? Surely. Because what you are describing is a tax. And the GOP and the dear leader are against taxes.

I recently bought a $48 shirt from The Netherlands. A couple weeks later, I received a letter from FedEx, notifying me that I owe them $67.62 for the tarrif. I'd already worn and washed the shirt. If I'd known it would cost me $115, I wouldn't have bought it. Yay tarrifs.

Trump literally said his layoffs will mostly hit Democratic programs/agencies. He’s deliberately hurting thousands of federal employees and their families directly who did not ask for this because he has an axe to grind with the Democrats.
