We cannot allow an American Gestapo to become normalized.

Thinking about how much of their violence has been normalized already, how scenes that caused shockwaves 6 weeks ago are now part of the rhythm of daily life. Watched a TikTok from a daughter who has to do her parents' laundry & get their groceries because they're in hiding. This is just it now

But the other thing…/3

This is an important thread. There are probably several hundred Federal agents who were sent to Chicagoland last month. They have inflicted cruelty & misery, they’ve gassed, & even shot & killed people. Every person they kidnap is a tragedy

But they actually haven’t got man people considering…/1

What Trump is doing is very bad. But I want to push back against some of the numbers here.

ICE did not hire 10,000 agents. It WANTS to. That it keeps running ads suggests it is struggling. And when it does, it seems to cannibalize local police, who don't like that.

More significantly:

"(Officers) refuse to recognize local or court authority. A judge says you can’t arrest journalists. Watch us. A judge says we have to wear badges. No. State law says we can’t drive around in unmarked vans? Too bad. Elected officials who want to see what is going on should prepare to be arrested."

Honestly very impressed by Newsmax, the Washington Times, and the Washington Examiner.

They deserve credit precisely because they’re standing up for journalistic principle notwithstanding their ideological inclination.

* Congress bypassed to send more & more bombs to Israel

I hope this ceasefire holds & I am glad the hostages are free, but this is Trump’s *actual record* so far.

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

An Israel-Hamas prisoner exchange is underway, so they at least agreed to something. But the signing ceremony for the bigger agreement, with plans beyond a prisoner exchange, was US, Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey; no Israelis or Palestinians.

Israel and Hamas both releasing people they've been holding shows they agreed to something. But the signing of the bigger deal—the one envisioning a longer-term plan for Gaza with an international stability force—didn't include Israelis or Palestinians.

I can't think of any other case like that.

Has that ever happened before? The famous US-Japan peace signing ceremony featured US and Japanese leaders. Sadat and Begin signed the Camp David Accords.
