Take a moment to enjoy the colours and structures of a leaf in the October sunshine.
sun shines through a medium-sized green leaf, still on the tree, showing its spines and tiny gaps. top right it looks like a small worm has taken a winding nibble through a now damaged section. the leaf is yellow and brown on the edges. blue sky. other leaves blurry in the background.

In honor of National Poetry Day, the greatest parody rewrite of all time:
Screen cap of parodic version of William Blake's "The Tyger" that begins:
Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright
(Not sure if I spelled that right)
What immortal hand or eye
Could fashion such a stripy guy?
What the hammer that hath hewn it
Into such a chonky unit?
Did who made the lamb make thee,
Or an external franchisee?

Convincing my left-wing former close friends on
Facebook that Charlie Kirk wasn't a Nazi or a
fascist is completely futile because I can't even
convince them that I'M not a Nazi or a fascist, and
many have known me since early grade school.

The more we hear about the deals Mandelson has been negotiating with Trump, the scarier it gets.

This week Trump will be accompanied by corporate billionaires on his state visit. Their agenda is a massive risk to all of us 🧵

I know !!!! And I have to confess that, despite coming from Norfolk, I had never heard of Cley until now. Two buses came along at once!

People are like "you need to show empathy" but if you were in one of the many, many groups this racist, sexist queerphobe victimised why would we offer what we never once got from him or his deranged supporters? Asking for sheep to pray for the wolf is a bold move in ignorance and indulgence.

A big part of why white centrist journos can call this a tragedy with a straight face is because to them it is; Kirk etc pose no viable harm to them, their interests, their fetishisation of 'robust debate' and both sidesery - this violence thus feels realer than the violence Kirk's views embodied

It's a good point.

Where are the govt ministers, police, councillors, or other community leaders demanding that our "legitimate concerns" about the rise of fascism and racism are heard?

When will Keir Starmer say "I hear you" to us?

Its time to ensure the legitimate concerns of ethnic minorities in Britain – about a concerted effort to dissolve foundational social norms against racism + deny our status as equal citizens – are heard too

We should *reject* excessive pessimism about pushing bsck

1/8 Future historians of Britain will puzzle over this. How the hounding of people seeking asylum (which won’t stop once they are moved from hotels to houses) became the defining issue of 2020s politics.

Badenoch encourages Tory councils to challenge asylum hotels www.bbc.com/news/article...
Tory councils should consider asylum hotel challenges, says Badenoch
The Tory leader writes to council leaders after a court blocked a hotel from housing asylum seekers.

We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

Section 28 didn’t come out of nowhere.
It came from a society where 75% thought homosexuality was wrong.
From a society that feared the sight of a man in drag would corrupt.
From a society that believed ignorance was better for children than any knowledge of gay lives.

Violent or destructive left wing protest is framed as delegitimising the protesters' stated cause.

Violent or destructive right wing protest is framed as emphasing the need for urgent action on the protesters' stated cause.

As always, right wing men are treated as elemental forces without agency.
sundersays.bsky.social
This is a bit of a atretch/hope: there were 5 protests, with the largest two being up to 300 people, a total of around a thousand or so people.
