The same is true here - the politics of cities are always further to the left than those in the country.

Part of it is that the large estates and those with real wealth (and lots of land) are mainly in the country. The poor are mainly in cities. I don't know about the US.

No textbooks, because I have had enough, and want an afternoon off, so there!

Solidarity with all trans and intersex people having their existence debated every time a tv host hasn't done their prep and can't think of any more questions

Ran out of data whilst I was out - I think my new, fancy phone uses more than the last one.

But my life is on that phone! I even struggled to buy the shopping (and of course, I couldn't look at the list).

I had to use my debit card, as I couldn't remember the pin for either of the credit cards 🙄

This is happening right now, across the UK – affecting thousands of young Trans+ people who are simply trying to be themselves and thrive

Young Trans+ people being inflicted with unspeakable mental and physical suffering

And all the while, anti-trans medical professionals, media figures,..

Number of deportations the ECHR have actually blocked since 1980 - 13 (THIRTEEN).

Please remember this next time some grifting populist claims us leaving the ECHR (and sacrificing the rights it gives us in the process) will allow us to ‘control our borders’.

Yes! I'm REALLY cross about all those rich types coming here and playing at dress-up English country life, no doubt causing our already unbalanced housing market to wobble further.

I would LOVE to be able to afford the Cotswolds, but no thanks now! I don't think I could be civil to one of them.

We are so focused on immigrants crossing the Channel in small boats we're not looking the other way. Immigrants fleeing the US are infiltrating the Cotswolds.

GCs doing their thing, being utter ghouls about the suicide of a young trans person. Claiming a lack of news coverage as a victory for their cause.

Alice’s death got coverage because my family sought press attention to highlight the appalling state of trans healthcare.

As for saturation coverage…

“A very big shift. There was saturation coverage of the death of Alice Litman, very notably on the BBC. This is the extent of the coverage (so far) of the death of Leia Sampson-Grimbly.
Is guilt setting in at the media's role in telling minors they were born in the wrong body?”

The tweet is accompanied by a screenshot of a headline in a local online new outlet
“Teenage girl took own life waiting for gender dysphoria treatment”

On ear piercing, though, pain is a very subjective thing. One person's pinch is another's owie!

Exactly this! I hate reading a good review of a film before I watch it, too. I prefer to make up my own mind, instead of going in with high expectations and then being disappointed.

Expecting the worst was a good idea, because then I was pleasantly surprised that it was ok. It's a low bar!

Sharing my table today, as I've come out when the café is completely full!

My jaw much better today - I think I can eat - but I'm staying on the soft stuff, as it feels bruised.

But that was for medicinal purposes once you found out about your enforced move, so only half lb is great!

I think it's because they seem to be operating on a skeleton staff, with no extra to cover sick or holidays. I've considered stopping my subscription to Radio Times because it often doesn't turn up until much later, despite it saying it's time sensitive.

Who are they kidding? This is NOT food!

I looked longingly at husband's solid food. I have the greatest suspicion that this will taste disgusting...

My jaw continues to throb. I wonder how long I have to wait before the exercises pay off, and it stops hurting!

In the meantime, I had porridge for lunch and I've just bought a meal-replacement drink for my dinner 🙄
