Or like how most comic book movies start from “what if we made this more realistic/grounded/stripped out everything people like about the comic?”

I think a lot of people making movies/tv just think that if it’s not a movie it must be garbage, so they don’t need to respect it.

I feel like it’s the clearest example in a while of an adaptation where the people making it have active contempt for either the source material or the medium. Like, I don’t know how else you would get to this point without being like, “okay, here’s how we ‘fix’ this dogshit IP the proles like 🙄”
