Hegseth seems insecure about his masculinity. The bravado (and booze) will not help.

He also seems unaware we have a *volunteer* army that can't meet its recruitment goals if enlistments of women drop appreciably. Every position a woman leaves will still have to be filled.

I grew up in VA-WV coal mine camps, not far from the mine tipples and rail tracks. Both grandfathers were miners. (Thankfully, I ended up an aerospace engineer.)

Coal is deadly to people and the planet. The jobs it *once* produced came at a terrible price. The sooner it's extinct, the better.

Probably 85% of US has NO clue what Pickett's charge was, or that it was a decisive inflection point in the Civil War, b/c they know little #history. And very few know the 20th Century roots of Fascism, so they don't see the current parallels! History instructs us how to avoid past mistakes.
