Dracula & A Modern Detective as books for winter, now that the clock switched and it is cloudy almost all the time. Dark atmosphere calls for spooky stories....

My father studied medicine to become a dentist but did not get to work in the field. Regardless of all that, the other day I was annoyed by people denying the CVD vaccine and he was like "They are being careful... Just like with fluoride in toothpaste because its bad". Man what even

"AI is going to be so good. We have no evidence for this but just wait. If you don't agree you are in denial!!"

And it's just like oh look it summarized a thing again incorrectly.
Why don't they ever talk to scientists who actually use AI tools? This is all just VC propoganda.

This is absurd.

The red supergiant Betelgeuse is the bright feature in this image.

But that darker blue splotch is a *companion star* that's just been discovered—and it orbits so close to Betelgeuse that it's inside the larger star's outer atmosphere.

The state of academia worsens by the day. Truly - let us analyze past genocides and colonial tactics, teach them and perceive them as facts only to suppress people speaking of the ongoing genocides. Very much the best use of tenure and free speech.

There is so many people passionate about a topic and wish to enter uni only for some to enter through 'important people' and money then proceed to use artificial bullshit and do not contribute anything and that is fine I guess...

I know the world can appear ugly but I do not think it is anything at all - as long as there is people going up against the ugly that is. Similarly, I think living as your authentic self, learning and sharing resources is a way of protesting against the bad things we see every day

Every year or two we take our CWRU Astro students to the campus library to view some of the historical astronomy books in their collection. It's always a highlight of the year when we do this, so I thought I'd share some of the things we saw on yesterday's visit.

Something is happening on twitter where everyone is making memes about/interacting with the Europa (Clipper) account. I know it is all jokes but I hope it turns into a Pluto 2.0 incident. That would be so fucking amazing

Your aperiodic reminder that Mercury has a weirdly HUGE core for reasons we do not yet understand.

It's less a planet and more a molten ball bearing wrapped in a thin blanket of rock.

Finished reading 'The Remains of the Day' by Kazuo Ishiguro & it was impressive. It may be boring? to some but this is the type of fiction I enjoy reading. It speaks of the passage of time and the fight for acceptance of one's choices after all is said and done. 4/5

Read the Metamorphosis (Franz Kafka) and the Art of War (Sun Tzu). The former is a 4.5/5, obviously Kafka was a really good writer but he actually fits my tastes when it comes to fiction too. It was so bizarre and human at the same time, I really enjoyed it. The latter mostly read like a self help
