Friday essay: let’s rethink Australia’s national security – and focus on fairness and climate action, not blind fealty to the US
The change in the US after Donald Trump returned to power should make us think deeply whether Washington's aims and policies will offer us the security we need.

If one is censured by a nation's Parliament for behaviour officially found to be "corrosive of trust in government", and is referred to an anti-corruption commission for misleading its Cabinet about the "crude and cruel" Robodebt scheme, how is one then eligible for said country's highest honour?

Some things that cis people often don’t realise.
The various steps in transition all take time, and the time and money needed vary greatly from one country to another, even within a country.
There will typically be a period where ID and appearance appear to disagree.

“Pacific leaders have made it clear: there is no future for our nations if fossil fuel expansion continues. The North West Shelf Extension would lock in emissions until 2070 threatening our survival & violating the spirit of the Pacific-tuakoi (neighbour) climate partnership."-Tuvalu Climate Minister
In response to pending decision on the North West Shelf Extension, Tuvalu's climate minister says Australia can keep pumping the gas or host COP31 not both.

People need to remember what the Catholic Church is really about, and it isn't goodwill to all.
A hateful thing to say. People whose approach to life is not faith-based have done enormous good, majority non-religious societies have been some of the strongest proponents of human dignity and solidarity. Why is the BBC just printed this unchallenged? If it's "news", it should be balanced.
