Nice to be parallel to a squall and not under it ☺️ 💨🌦️

#Dailyglimmer Yay!!!

Spring is definitely here in Nipaluna/ Hobart

The dusky woodswallows have arrived back from their mainland winter wanderings!

Ps although swallow size, they are not real swallows, but related to magpies, butcherbirds and Currawongs

A lovely man but also a 🦕 who didn’t think women belonged in Antarctica. Thank goodness those days are gone.

A concerning development regarding Madeleine Habib, the Tasmanian/Australian citizen being held by Israel after being taken from the humanitarian vessel the Conscience. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/o...
#politas #auspol
Screen grab from the linked article. Text reads:

Dfat’s report noted Habib did not agree to sign the waiver and said the officials confirmed with Israeli immigration officials that any detainees who refused to sign the waiver would remain in Israel indefinitely.

The officials noted this differed from past experience where detainees would be deported after 72 hours regardless of whether they signed a waiver.

Guardian Australia understands the waiver required detainees to acknowledge they had sought to illegally break Israel’s naval blockade on Gaza. At least one member of the flotilla who did not sign a waiver has been released, sources have said.

I’ve sailed on many Antarctic ships where Madeline was part of the ship’s leadership team, & spent many long night hours on the bridge talking philosophy with her. She’s an absolute Amazon & one of the most principled people ever. I admire her greatly & hope Australia is doing her bidding well.

Humanitarian and Tasmanian legend, Captain Madeline Habib was Captain of the Conscience- a substantial ship, full of doctors and medical aid in a second flotilla. She and her ship have been detained. She first tried to break the blockade into Palestine in 2016.

Lets make different political choices says Zack Polanski.

Like taxing billionaires instead of blaming poor people.

The pademelons have headed out into the reserve for the day. Here a young mum preens her bub that’s almost her size ! Yet she still lets them suckle from the pouch, tho’ there is no way they would fit. Considering Brad’s activities, there could also be another one on the way in there too 😲
Two shapes, a young pademelon mumma and young. The young has their head in her pouch and is suckling

The lawn is a macropod lawn, groomed to perfection by their browsing. No need for a lawn mower here for a decade.

FYI -these are my neighbours. They come and go from our shared garden, but more often than not, stay the night. It’s safer in their view, than in the reserve we live next door to. We have tussock grasses and ferns to sleep and hide in and a fence with strategic, pademelon sized entry/ exit holes.☺️
