had a dream that everyone was obsessed with something called a "chiller," a hamburger served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream right atop the patty. when i woke up, that wasn't true.

anyway go see One Battle After Another in a movie theater, I know we said this about Oppenheimer but I mean it for real with this one, there are cinematographic and audio mixing things that are essential to the experience and you won't get it at home

I'll add that while there's nothing wrong with comfort art, there's absolutely something wrong if you're willing to engage ONLY with comfort art. You should be running into art that perplexes you or gets under your skin or makes you ask questions or that you dislike without calling for its removal.

Let's talk about weird art.

Weird art, gross art, sexual art, violent art, all has its place and belongs. And you really need to stop acting like the existence of uncomfortable themes equals harm. That kind of censorship, which IS what that is, only serves to silence and abuse people.

The trailer that was promised for upcoming Psycho H mega project, 'All The Colour Of The Dark', all 9 minutes of it, chock full of amateurish technical errors that I'm gonna lean into from this point on and say are intentional.

monica bellucci for vogue portugal. she is in a potter's studio, hands white with clay dust. she wears a cream coat over a lacy cream romper. her hands are raised to her face, which is locked, eyes shut, in an expression of deep concentration or, perhaps, profound regret.

op-ed writers will often do this neat trick where they conflate a some people becoming annoyed at co-workers adding pronouns on slack with the "debate" on whether it should be official u.s. policy that trans people should die. a clever way of framing perceived virtue signaling as the true harm here.

I've been hard in Boxcutters and Evening House Mode the past two weeks, but as this is My Busiest Year, I've also got my debut novel coming out at the tail end of summer! The official release date is August 26th. Pubbin' w/my friends at Deep Overstock, an indie press built up from Powell's shelves
promo image for Feast of the Pale Leviathan, showing a Titan made of human bodies in the shape of a human body rising from the rocky seas.

It reads:
"A man falls asleep on a river raft tube and drifts out to sea, where he is found and devoured by a titan of unbelievable size. But rather than death, what Owen finds inside is an imperfect community of fellow survivors carving out a life amidst the flotsam and flesh of the impossible Leviathan. There seems to be no hope of escape until another devoured soul arrives, kickstarting a chain of events that reveals to the survivors that their damnable fates are tied to a mysterious cult that lives in deathless splendor
in the ivory halls of New Atlantis.

For readers who enjoy cosmic horror, nautical adventure, and all who feel trapped in the belly of the beast, Feast of the Pale Leviathan may be your next beloved literary journey.

A debut novel out August 26th with Deep Overstock Books"

Bourdain's quote on dictators eating shit food is something I think about a lot. Just cooking something nice to eat with my friends is very likely a better meal than some of the most powerful people will ever eat in their lives
Dictators tend to eat really really badly, you know, they insist on it. It’s like the super rich! I mean, where do they go? There’s all these great Italian restaurants in the city but they go to Cipriani, you know, they go to Nello, they pay a hundred and twenty bucks for a bowl of spaghetti pomodoro or whatever they’re paying. Why? Because they want to live in that bubble. The one thing they can be guaranteed there or at Philippe or Mr. Chow or places like that is that they won’t be called out by a normal person who is pointing out the obvious. Your plastic surgery is botched. You know, regardless of what your friends tell you, you’re an evil person, and you’re eating really shitty food, which you’re paying too much for. Those places, they’re insulated from that, you know. You want complicity, everyone at Cipriani is complicit, you know, everyone who goes to Nello or Philippe or Mr. Chow, understands that they are signing on to, uh. The despots’ club.
