had a dream that everyone was obsessed with something called a "chiller," a hamburger served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream right atop the patty. when i woke up, that wasn't true.
i don't understand the 2016 meme. you wish to return to 2016? the year we all died and went to hell? the year the fabric of reality tore, revealing the terrible void beneath? the year of our spiral into despair and nothingness? the year of the angry birds movie?

This is incredible
Condé Nast forgot to renew the trademark for Gourmet and so a group of journalists grabbed it and are relaunching the food magazine as a worker-owned co-op. Love it. [gourmetmagazine.net]

I have never before wondered "what would a Five Nights at Freddy's version of Poochinski look like," but this answers that very question.

i am ready to admit i think the sopranos' ending has aged remarkably well.
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

For @lareviewofbooks.bsky.social ), I reviewed Katherine Dunn’s first, and posthumous, collection of short fiction. Violence, motherhood, resilience, boxing.

i want to so badly to experience a christmas filled with magic! reverence! and child-like wonder! but every year, without fail, my extended family decides to become embroiled in a jolly holiday fight or share things like, "christmas makes me think of everyone who has died." where is krampus.

The day has finally arrived, it’s launch time for giallo-autophagised mega project ‘All The Colour Of The Dark’.

A horror spiral into surrealism/perversion/even sci-fi at one point.

Available as a free PDF on Psycho H [with some sample visuals below]

anyway go see One Battle After Another in a movie theater, I know we said this about Oppenheimer but I mean it for real with this one, there are cinematographic and audio mixing things that are essential to the experience and you won't get it at home

I'll add that while there's nothing wrong with comfort art, there's absolutely something wrong if you're willing to engage ONLY with comfort art. You should be running into art that perplexes you or gets under your skin or makes you ask questions or that you dislike without calling for its removal.
Let's talk about weird art.

Weird art, gross art, sexual art, violent art, all has its place and belongs. And you really need to stop acting like the existence of uncomfortable themes equals harm. That kind of censorship, which IS what that is, only serves to silence and abuse people.

The trailer that was promised for upcoming Psycho H mega project, 'All The Colour Of The Dark', all 9 minutes of it, chock full of amateurish technical errors that I'm gonna lean into from this point on and say are intentional.
