Always slightly baffled to see Nintendo's inability to significantly innovate with Metroid (a game series I love). Literally no reason Prime 4, Dread, etc. shouldn't be just as good and creative as indie Metroidvanias made by significantly smaller teams.

finally beat half life: alyx... i think really the only comparison would be super mario 64 on release: the feeling of a game studio developing for a new medium (VR and 3D, respectively) and absolutely knocking it out of the park. not hyperbole to say it's really wondrous stuff.
