I've been to a fair few protests over the years and folks there is an energy in the air right now that has not existed over that time. People are angry.

Saying there must be trials isn't just an emotive aspiration.
Congress can:
- Create a new court (complying w/ 6A jury vicinage)
- Give it jurisdiction over defined category of crimes
- Also create dedicated prosecutors for the same
- Strip SCOTUS of appellate jurisdiction
It can be done.

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength

I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

if they wanted to stop this they would be fighting it, not funding it.
the democrats in power are letting this all happen because it aligns with their class interests and the wants of their wealthy owners. if they wanted to stop it they would fight it but they support ice, the police, and the military, which is why they always vote to give them more money and power.

I've been thinking about this and I think it's a question of perverse incentives. If the Dems side with the people and fascism wins, the Dems will die. If they side with fascists and the people win, they won't. They don't consider the other two scenarios because they're short sighted morons.
It's been so disheartening to realize that like, even the ~3-5 people in government I thought at least kind of 'got it' absolutely just do not get it

I’m so sick of people throwing their hands up and saying abolishing ICE isn’t possible right now. Abolishing ICE is extremely popular and calls to do so will only continue to grow, meanwhile conservatives manage to do incredibly unpopular things all the time because nobody stops them

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.
