I design soft, romantic knitting patterns and have strong opinions about knit socks. Here you'll find yarn, tea, gardening, and a daily cheerful thing. I used to practice law, but now I'm nobody's lawyer. she/her

I knit my kid her first pair of socks recently, and she proudly wore them to school on a rainy day. I don't think my 22-year-old self quite anticipated how great this would feel when she first started knitting, but man, it's great.
Digging around for inspiration for next year's designs. You can get ides for knitting projects just about anywhere, you know, and I think that's so fun.
Coming Friday: the updated Santa Rosa Socks pattern, available on its own or in a bundle of 4 patterns for a big discount. Newsletter signups here: www.abeeinthebonnet.com/subscribe-to...
Fellow knitters, do you still have your first finished knit? I have mine, a lumpy and misshapen scarf that I knit for my then-boyfriend. Don't worry, he didn't give it back. We're just married and share a closet now.

Feeding America has a page where you can input your zip code and it'll show you all of the food banks near you overlaid on a map. If you need it, it's there. If you don't need it, think about donating money if you have it and your time if you don't.

This is your very occasional reminder that every month, your pattern purchases and blog visits help my small business send $100 to the local food bank. Even when you don't realize you're helping people, you're helping people.

Because it's always a good day to feed our neighbors.
And yes, this book absolutely had outsized impact on my developing sense of self and what I wanted for my life.
When I was little, a neighbor gave me a book called Minou, about a spoiled housecat whose human suddenly dies. Minou has to learn to fend for herself on the streets of Paris and eventually gets a job as a mouser in the vestry at Notre Dame. It ends with her being independent and mysterious.
it's crazy that if you're a cat, your only two life outcomes are eating out of a trash can or getting treated like a little baby
You know you really care about someone when you start contemplating knitting something for them even though you know they can't take care of it. In my case, that someone is my parents' 9-year-old yellow lab. She'd just look so cute in a little scarflet!
How many knit things is too many knit things to wear at once? Asking for a friend who's wearing socks and a tshirt and a scarflet and maybe wants to add a hat. The friend is me.
This sounds less fun to me, but I support you pursuing what brings you joy!
Hey, just thought you might wanna know something: it's a good day to knit socks.
Whoops, that last bit got cut off! It's so you don't spend 20 hours knitting socks that fall apart after a few wears.
