A Walk In the Woods

A fun piece of creative poetic writing filled with nature elements. The need for a good pair of boots when out in the forest and even better, a good cup of tea!

Heading west via one of Germany’s oldest cities: Trier. Of course it’s most famous for its Roman and late antique history. And sadly much of the medieval heritage was destroyed by bombs in WW2. But the dual cathedral/basilica complex is still amazing - the entry point of Gothic art into Germany.

Would we?
Found this written on a wooden board at a lost place.

The image shows a wooden board with the handwritten message: “Would we be friends if we ever met?” written in white paint. The board is framed by chipped paint and weathered yellow edges.

Petronella Oortman’s Dollhouse (1676) was fitted out so richly that it cost as much as a real house, & inspired Jessie Burton’s novel The Miniaturist. Here’s how it appears in the Rijksmuseum, and at R, how it originally appeared, in a painting by Jacob Appel in 1710
