📷 from late November 2024. In the foreground, the CWGC headstone marking the grave of Drummer Sam Wadsworth, who served in the 4th Bn. Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment. Sam died at Shelf Sanatorium on the 7th March 1918, aged 18 years.
The image taken in late morning sunshine in November 2024, shows in the foreground a grey granite Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone which marks the burial place of Drummer Sam Wadsworth. Sam served in the 4th Battalion, Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment. He died aged eighteen, at Shelf Sanatorium, on 7th March 1918, and was buried at Lister Lane Cemetery. Many other stone headstones and monuments can be seen in the background along with the remains of the former mortuary chapel and houses built adjacent to the cemetery.
