so many elk, so far away
Across a very large grass field, about a quarter of the herd of elks i came across (the somewhat lighter dots in the foto) strung out along a creek at the base of heavily forested mountain ridge. I was able to count 75 elk and then tired of counting maybe 3/4 of the way through the herd. Under lightly clouded skies near Scio, Oregon ☮️

Trees have a purpose; even when they are at rest in winter. On a random street in Marseille and the trees are lined up, both left and right. Devoid of their leaves, their branch outlines are evident. Behind them are the city buildings and they compete the frame. The original colour image was altered to black and white for greater contrast.
