I think this almost daily. Not on a "back in my day" sense but I wholeheartedly believe the mind needs a rest from intentionally seeking. It needs the space for openness, fluidity, spontaneous play, relaxation (in the senses or "awareness" in general)
i say this like im not above it, and its old man shakes fist at cloud - but everyone is looking at their phone all the time. at every bus stop, in every queue, on the bus. and its not that its inherently bad, but i don't think we were built to have 24/7 information of any kind streamed to our brain

A little over 8 inches by 10am in my neck of the woods. Also have the squirrels' charcuterie board put together, just need to think where the best area to place it will be. They know I throw unsalted peanuts to them from my porch & they come for bird seed, but I haven't even seen them out yet.

Let's reconsider the dependence on "hard work" as an argument. It neglects the classism involved in border imperialism, how "hard work" is defined & upholds ableist notions that, if one can't do "hard work," then they're not as deserving of protections & the comforts that aren't available in poverty

This point really needs to be stressed. Jeffries deliberately leaked to the press that he wasn't whipping votes against ICE funding. The Democratic Party position is that this bill should go through, it's not just the view of the 7 people who voted yes.
But you see, these AREN’T the only 7 Democrats who supported giving ICE more money. The Democrats OVERALL support it. These 7 are just the latest rotating villains selected to take the fall while the rest pretend to oppose to fundraise. That’s why it’s always EXACTLY enough Dem support votes to pass
