And poorly executed, thanks to the limits of Twitch tech at the time. If the stream was 1 minute behind real time, an ad that the streamer started 45 seconds after a match ended actually started 15 second before the match ended. Lots of finishes were missed because of it.

Charging anything is a bad decision in my book, but charging as much as they are is insane.

$40 USD for both events is a big ask. That's 5 months of Netflix. Do they really think getting to watch Capcom Cup a week early is the same value proposition as FIVE MONTHS of Netflix?

I assume there is no regional pricing? a little sad-funny if last years main story was the breakout success of a young south american player and this year they are asking everyone to pay more than 20 usd to watch. seems a bit thoughtless to me, but I guess thats why I dont make the big bucks!

Capcom is asking a young, stereotypically-broke, and highly tech-savvy group to pay $40 to watch something they had been able to get for free for years.

I don't see that working out well for them.
