Apparently there’s a new CBP document check for US citizens returning to the US from Europe. Before boarding his flight early this morning in Frankfurt, my son was specifically asked whether he was a journalist or a lawyer. He has Global Entry too, but that didn’t matter.

This makes me very sad. Had a summer job at NPR in 1996. Once got on the elevator with her and she immediately introduced herself "you look new around here." Very warm and kind.
I suspected this might be coming because of her recent retirement... I knew she'd never lay down the microphone unless forced to.
