“I dismissed your argument without even looking into what it was based on because I didn’t like how it was phrased” is itself the emotional position
Sorry, it's the 5th paragraph

Absolute gibberish, but one aside I’d add is it’s probably a bad idea to check the scale every day vs maybe every week. Your weight is naturally going to fluctuate every day no matter what you do, and that can be a red herring signal, vs tracking the trend over a longer period of time
WELKER: If tariffs help consumers, why is the administration rolling them back?

BESSENT: You know how much you weigh. You get on the scale every morning. Inflation is a composite number and we look at everything. We try to push down the things we can control.

A lot of the history of this era of Twitter is, they get a fair idea and implement it, realize it has a negative effect on their preferred political narrative, then they immediately revert it saying it was a bug

Those chips are just chips; at least if they were protein chips or something I could understand, but they’re just low-tier chips with a manifesto
And yes, the swag bags. Attendees received MAHA-branded tote bags with:

- Packets of creatine
- Beef tallow potato chips ($79 for a 6-pack!!)
- Mouth tape
- RFK Jr's biography
- Beef protein bars

The sort of thing a FNC pundit would say is too Newsmaxy even for them
I've been sitting here wracking my brain for five minutes trying to figure out what talent donald trump has a unique eye for. JD Vance?

TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

We’re going to be looking very strongly at the bourgeoisie, what they’re up to

Objectively no study or set of studies can completely rule-out a possibility, that's not how falsifiability works. Instead we search for statistical significance, confidence intervals, likelyhood, support for a hypothesis, etc.
CDC has overhauled its website to assert that “the claim ‘vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based claim”

One thing that many folks seem to struggle with is the idea that there's more to ethics than whether or not one has committed criminal acts.

Outside of the fact that the network shills for the policies that put us in this situation, I’m struck more by how useless this advice is: “Want to save money over the holidays? Don’t buy presents” woah thanks never occurred to me wow
Fox guest on how to save money during the holidays:

"Remember, adults don't need gifts. Focus on the people in your life who are aged 3 to 18. Grandma doesn't need slippers. If they don't live by you, don't get them a gift."

One thing I think that's been consistent throughout the years is how much resentment the republican party has for the American people

TRUMP: You have to bring in talent

INGRAHAM: Well, we have plenty of talented people in America

TRUMP: No you don't. No.

INGRAHAM: We don't have talented people here?

When I was that same pre-K age, I was more or less a prodigy at reading. Math I was at best "ok" at, it didn't keep my interest. Today I'm a software engineer with over 25 years experience, but I can barely read two paragraphs in a book without my eyes blurring and my attention waning.
I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

Underscoring this is the president pardoning the folks who helped try to steal the 2020 election for him
seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

Often times, when we suffer intense fear that something bad might occur, we make decisions that ensure it does
MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.

My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.
November 10, 2025 at 1:39 PM
This is what everyone is going to be asking, now that Dems stepped up to take total responsibility for it
What the fuck was the point of shutting down the government then??
November 10, 2025 at 1:29 PM
Sorry everyone, you know the rules: we're not allowed to go a full week without being massively disappointed at the Democratic party, it's right there in the bylaws

Whenever Dems fight for something and then give up, they get punished more than if they never fought in the first place. It ends up leading folks to believe both the pain incurred while fighting and the consequences of losing that fight are all on the Dems and not the Rs

I'm legitimately confused about the play here. No person who now is going to go without coverage in the ACA is going to just blame the GOP. They will rightly blame the Democrats too. Dems won't get "points" for "fighting" if they cave. It makes little sense.
