I've said for a while that anytime I see someone pine for the days of Something Awful it's a GIGANTIC red flag for me. Often an instant unfollow if I follow, a reason to mute/block if I don't. The fact that people use Nazi Bar as shorthand for a lot of stuff but somehow don't apply it to SA is WILD.
Genuinely not unreasonable to say that Lowtax sucked so bad he fucked up the entire planet, and that most of the problems with the internet can be laid at the door of Something Awful

Something Awful's defenders will claim that none of the things they did - doxxing, swatting, gangstalking, "lolcows" - were invented by them. Whether that's true or not is largely immaterial. They mainstreamed these processes and gleefully employed them against furries for a decade.
