Not the actor from Star Wars, Dr Who, or The Tweenies - asking me trivia on any of these risks fabricated replies.
Open to exchanging opinions on Leeds, music, politics, Age of Sail navy, and vague memories of the 20th century.
Meanwhile in Scandinavia, yesterday’s overcooked pasta is sprinkled with little cubes of celery and cucumber and served for your lunch as “pasta salad”.

This may just be hotels everywhere catering for conferences, but still…

My mum just told me that #curling starts earlier than the rest of the #winterolympics - first matches are today, rock fans!

Rest of you, go about your business.

Thought this was about Eric Morcambe on first glance.
Today marks the 67th anniversary of the day the music died. Feb. 3, 1959. 67 years ago today (at 1:00 a.m.), the plane carrying Buddy, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, and pilot Roger Peterson went down in a field near Clear Lake, Iowa. I took this photo at the edge of that field in 2014.

When your stars openly mock the premise during filming…

But then again: father/daughter on beach, guy getting geysered into the void, Prez Freeman telling it how it is? All genuinely great moments.

Ah right - this makes sense: “Design work was by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company (LMS), who had no prior experience in the design and production of fighting vehicles”.
February 2, 2026 at 11:58 PM
Well that rabbitholed me - “Designed by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway…” Wondered what a railway company was doing designing (duff) tanks, and then amazed by the opening of the LMS Wikipedia page “the company was also the largest commercial enterprise in the British Empire”.

Timeline endlessly full of “we’re not forgetting Epstein”; nothing about Venezuela, Gaza, Ukraine…seems like it’s hard to think about more than one thing at a time.

Absolutely - also feel bad for him that he’s not getting minutes in a World Cup year when with a bit of a tailwind he could be going.

Mind you, I suppose when Lleeds knock them out in March it won’t matter…

…to create a unique recording that couldn’t be repeated.

Mind you, then I also found out about the first take (that was released in 1996) and that’s shit.

I’ve read plenty about The Beatles, but for some reason hadn’t picked up on the recording of this song until a couple of months ago, and it blew me away - insane to be effectively live-mixing pre-recorded loops, tensioned by guys holding pencils…

The last decade has seen a lot of moments where hearing something on the radio has prompted me to explode in a string of incredulous expletives, but hearing “…Mandelson said he had no recollection of payments totalling $75,000…” has got to be up there in terms of resulting decibels & obscenity.

It’s got a pretty good point halfway to break - I watched it with the kids, but we did it over a couple of nights and it was fine.

There’s some late talk about a lad from Venezia, but I don’t think he’s been properly scouted and if we haven’t had a chance to look at him we really shouldn’t be buying a Venetian blind.
