Not really sure if this is the right place to advertise a postdoc position related to high resolution models and high clouds (renewable for up to 6 years!), co-supervised by @aikovoigt.bsky.social and myself, but let's try to make this place a bit more lively, at least :)

In the few days I have between jobs, I wanted to share an unvarnished perspective on what I've learned after spending three years working on supercomputing in the cloud. It's hastily written and lightly edited, but I hope others find it interesting: blog.glennklockwood.com/2025/07/less...

New paper in ERL! We study the importance of resolution for the representation of climate extremes.

We use a new generation of km-scale models to show that many important details about temperature and precipitation extremes are hidden at CMIP6-like resolutions.

Hey @copernicusecmwf.bsky.social, it seems the Copernicus Interactive Climate Atlas is down?

Is there an estimate when it will be up and running again? Asking for teaching and an outreach event on Saturday.

Thanks in advance!

(I hope I have found the right contact point.)

We are extremely grateful to @vscluster.bsky.social to allow us to teach our students on state-of-the-art HPC infrastructure. This is so much fun, and the students and we as lecturers really enjoy it. This semester, we are running ICON climate simulations to compare to digital twins.
