Because the tax payer funded SCOTUS decided long ago with it's supremacy clause that Federal authority supersedes that of the states. And the tax payer funded ICE goon squads are a federal entity.

Democrats don't want us to know that they barely control the police if at all. Police won't obey an order to protect the public. I'm not certain if Pritzker doesn't care about people's safety or just doesnt want to give an order the police will ignore.

It was always a delusion to believe the professions that draw fascists like the police and military would protect us from fascism. Fascism is successful because authority backs authoritarianism.

And then the even larger question is why aren’t we all pressuring our elected official to pressure the police. They all are supposed to be working for us. We need to remind them of that fact (historical police loyalties aside).

I suspect that part of the problem is that ICE is a government agency and you have to get permission to sue the government. Plus, as has been noted, you have to dox yourself to do it. And ICE has not been, for the most part, attacking those who have enough money to take on the government in court.

The officers do not give their names, badge numbers, and have faces covered. The people swept away are not allowed lawyers and it is not known if they are still in the country.

As Inevitable as deliberate. Ripping out all the foundational things everything is built upon. Thats not as noticable to individuals until things start collapsing. While the rich build 4 profit prisons and a monopoly on food, shelter, gas, electric, water, and the only jobs that will survive 🤬
