FYI:
Alberta's UCP government decided that everyone on #AISH who receives the $200 #CanadaDisabilityBenefit will have their monthly AISH cheque decreased by $200.

Danielle Smith & her #UCP are the only province in Canada doing this & making us hurt more.

Please (dis)like & share.

Do we start with…

“Who wears a suit to a hay bail ride?”

Or

“Why is the UCP caucus retreat in a hall covered with scripture?”

Or

If we’re going with bible verses, why not “Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great”

Some of us cannot (due to our own circumstances) but as someone who can't, I laugh wholeheartedly at this, given the circumstance that the satirical comment was written for.

Bravo. (And F_ck Trump & his followers for attacking the most vulnerable.)
Thousands of us in the disabled community know with certainty that a lack of it brings sorrow and more suffering for most who live at or below the poverty line. #AISH

You’re much closer to becoming disabled or homeless than you are to becoming rich and wealthy.

It’s not a moral failing. It’s not something you can “try harder” your way out of.

We need robust social supports & safety nets to ensure everyone is properly cared for.
Well done with the distinctions!

PS. I love examples like the one you just provided.
(PS. I didn't tell you about me for pity or anything! It was just intriguing to me how two people had a past struggle with speaking the same language due to entirely different reasons.)
Wow. I have been told English is a very hard language to learn.

As an aside, after I came out of my coma, I just mumbled random English words (word salad). It was another couple of months before I spoke full sentences again. Speaking is still difficult but if I go slow, I can write properly. :)
Haha...no ideas here. J here and it is only me here tonight. Thankfully, my mother taught me the difference between many homophones when I was a young little kidlet and before my brain got injured.

Unfortunately, I do not remember what I had for dinner so have no idea what her method was. :)

People always tell me that I should have more support.

That if my level of function was really “that bad” I would have help.

Please believe me when I tell you help doesn’t magically appear when you become disabled.

Unless you’re rich or have family support, you’re on your own.

It is so hard to ask for help, especially when you’re disabled & chronically ill.

When you’ve spent most of your life being treated as “less than” or a drain, you worry anyone you ask for help will judge you.

It takes a surprising amount of courage, so the best thing you can do is be kind
Amazing how everyone who is arrested by mistake by ICE suddenly gets a felony DUI charge.

Legal worker: "Hey, I have a work visa and I'm here in the forest, fighting a wildfire with my unit."

ICE thug: "Oops.....well, textbook Driving Under the Influence. Off to prison."

The Government doesn't even have a front facing Medical Officer of Health. #ABLeg #ABpoli #SupportPublicHealth #AxeTheVaxTax
The fact that the UCP government is having to force the severely disabled on AISH over on to this work program proves that ADAP does NOT benefit the disabled, despite what the UCP Conservatives say.

Again, leave it up to those on #AISH who are already able to work and let them choose. 2/2

"The #UCP Government Is Forcing It's Severely Disabled To Prove They Cannot Work"

Re: Alberta's ADAP (Alberta Disability Assistance Program)

If it was a truly fair program, then people on AISH who already work, and those who COULD work, would voluntarily switch over to ADAP in droves. 1/x

I want to give those of you who have not been exposed to this new strain of Covid a warning. It is very insidious. I have had it now for almost 3 weeks it does not want to go away. I thought I was getting better, but now having a problem breathing. Please be careful especially the immunocompromised.
