11 years ago, my son Danny died. He was one of the early victims of the toxic drug crisis, one of over 50,000.
This video, showing Danny as a young chef, gives you a glimpse into what we have lost.
Keep fighting for #harmreduction. It would have saved him.

While the premier blames “immigrants” campaigns for encouraging interprovincial migration, such as “Alberta is calling”, did not coincide with investment in education, health, and housing.

The Alberta government stopped tracking class sizes, and then the province's population growth really took off. @robsonfletcher.com set out to find out how the numbers of teachers compare to that growth, with the limited info available

Class size/composition is a strike issue.

ANALYSIS | Alberta stopped tracking class sizes. Then it changed its funding formula. Now, it's a teachers' strike issue | CBC News
Get a rough idea of how much Alberta’s teaching staff has grown compared to how much student enrolment has grown since the funding formula for school boards was changed.

The Premier sent new mandate letters today to all 4 Ministers responsible for our health care. But instead of addressing the urgent crises facing the system & Albertans' access to the health care we need, it was just more of the same: chaos & privatization.

9 years of advocating and fighting for the rights of people who use drugs .. not once did they acknowledge families who have tried forced treatment within my community. I have no words .. just a lot of anger and sadness at the harm this will cause so many folks.

And Danielle Smith has directed Rick Wilson to introduce forced treatment to Alberta!

Implementation pushed back to 2027 (originally promised for Spring 2026). Guess it’s been harder than expected to ring fence at-capacity voluntary treatment infrastructure for unproven, forced care.

0 arrests in the border zone!

“The five arrests reported by Alberta’s Interdiction Patrol Team for trafficking …occurred in … Willow Creek, Rocky View County, Wetaskiwin County [550 km from US border] and the Municipal District of Foothills.”

Alberta launched its border patrol last year to help stop the flow of illegal drugs and migrants across what Premier Smith called the “leaky” U.S. border.

But the Interdiction Patrol Team has so far made only a handful of arrests, according to data released through an access to information request.

Calgary teacher Alicia Taylor says she brought it forward because it could help improve funding for public schools. #AbEd

As premier, I am often forced to make some really difficult decisions. Decisions that will affect people for generations. Decisions that affect me, my party, my friends, and our pocketbooks.

I stand by my decisions.

The reviews are coming in on the UCP's American lesson plans they're offering parents while teachers are on strike...

From this Grade 1 teacher, not only do they not align with the UCP's curriculum...

They aren't even based in what most Grade 1 kids can do.

Nobody has ever claimed AHS was perfect...

But Smith's approach to healthcare has been to take a slightly injured patient (AHS) & dismember it.

We asked ER physician Dr. Paul Parks (@PfParks) if that's accurate.

Turns out it is, and some folks are getting very well paid!

"The total private school grant was increased by 10.3 per cent in the 2025 budget. The hike was just 4.5 per cent for public schools, well short of inflation plus population growth. Per-student spending on private schools is expected to grow to $544 million by 2027-28."
